A Key to the North

A Key to the North is a critical Main Story Mission in Far Cry 4 that serves as the gateway to Northern Kyrat. This mission becomes available after completing the "City of Pain" quest and triggers the massive map expansion beyond the King's Bridge. Unlike some missions that fluctuate based on your loyalty to Amita or Sabal, the primary objective remains consistent: you must hijack a chemical tanker at the bridge to use as a mobile bomb. However, the dialogue and narrative context will shift depending on who currently leads the Golden Path. You are tasked with driving the truck through the fortified gate at the King's Bridge, blowing the blockade wide open. Expect high-intensity combat against Royal Guard elites equipped with P416 rifles and heavy armor. To succeed, ensure you have a Grenade Launcher (like the M-79) or C4 to deal with standard patrols, and consider bringing Hurk or a Guns for Hire mercenary to provide cover fire while you navigate the explosives-laden tanker. Once the bridge falls and the fortress is breached, the entire northern region, including the Okaru Tea Factory and the Royal Palace, becomes accessible for exploration.
