Explosives
When subtlety isn't an option, or you simply want to make a grand entrance (or exit), Far Cry 5's array of explosives are your best friends. From clearing out fortified positions to taking down vehicles and even large groups of cultists, these tools of destruction are essential for any aspiring resistance fighter. Understanding their uses and limitations will sificantly enhance your combat effectiveness and open up new tactical possibilities.
Explosives come in various forms, each with its own unique application. Whether you're setting traps, initiating an ambush, or just need to blow something up for the sheer catharsis of it, mastering these destructive devices will turn you into a one-person wrecking crew. Remember to consider the blast radius and potential collateral damage, especially if you're trying to keep civilians safe or avoid attracting unwanted attention.
- Dynamite: Your basic, reliable explosive. Great for destroying roadblocks, weakening structures, or creating diversions. Can be thrown or placed.
- Molotov Cocktails: Excellent for area denial, flushing enemies out of cover, or setting fire to vehicles and flammable objects. The lingering fire damage can be very effective.
- Grenades: Standard fragmentation grenades are perfect for clearing out groups of enemies clustered together or dislodging them from cover. Practice your throws to maximize their impact.
- Proximity Mines: Ideal for setting traps around objectives, guarding flanks, or creating kill zones. Place them strategically where enemies are likely to patrol or approach.
- Remote Explosives (C4): The ultimate tool for precision demolition. Place multiple charges and detonate them simultaneously for maximum impact. Fantastic for taking down armored vehicles or blowing open safes.
- Rocket Launchers: While technically a weapon, the rockets they fire are pure explosive power. Indispensable for dealing with helicopters, armored trucks, and heavily fortified bunkers. Always keep one handy for emergencies.
Tips for Explosive Use:
- Combine and Conquer: Use Molotovs to flush enemies out, then hit them with a grenade as they scatter.
- Vehicle Takedowns: Remote explosives are excellent for ambushing convoys. Place them on the road and detonate as the vehicle passes. Rocket launchers are also highly effective.
- Outpost Assaults: Use dynamite or grenades to destroy alarm systems from a distance before engaging.
- Environmental Hazards: Look for explosive barrels or propane tanks in the environment. Shooting these can create chain reactions, saving your own explosives.
- Stealthy Demolition: While most explosives are loud, placing remote explosives or proximity mines can be done stealthily before initiating combat.
