Whitetail Mountain - Part 1
Welcome to the treacherous peaks and dense forests of Whitetail Mountain, the final stronghold of Jacob Seed and his brainwashed army. This initial part of your journey into Whitetail will focus on establishing a foothold, understanding the unique challenges of this region, and beginning to dismantle Jacob's influence. Expect fierce resistance, cunning traps, and a constant threat from the Judge wolves.
Your primary objective in this section is to liberate the first few outposts and complete initial story missions that introduce you to the region's mechanics and characters. Pay close attention to environmental clues and be prepared for ambushes. Stealth is often your best friend in these early stages, allowing you to thin out enemy numbers before engaging directly.
Initial Objectives and Strategy
- Liberate Silver Lake Boathouse: This outpost provides a crucial fast travel point and a safe haven. Approach from the west, using the dense foliage for cover. Prioritize taking out the sniper in the watchtower first.
- Meet Eli Palmer: After securing the boathouse, head north to the Whitetail Park Visitor Center to link up with Eli. He'll provide vital information and kick off the main storyline for the region.
- "The Cleansing" Mission: This mission introduces you to Jacob's "trials." Be prepared for a timed sequence of enemy encounters. Focus on headshots and quick weapon swaps.
- Scavenge for Resources: Whitetail Mountain is rich in animal pelts and crafting materials. Take time to hunt deer, bears, and especially wolves to upgrade your inventory and craft useful items.
Tips for Survival
- Beware of Judge Wolves: These enhanced wolves are faster and more aggressive. Listen for their distinctive growls and be ready to react quickly. Shotguns are highly effective at close range.
- Utilize the Terrain: The mountainous landscape offers numerous vantage points for sniping and flanking. Use elevation to your advantage during firefights.
- Recruit Specialists: Consider bringing Jess Black for her stealth capabilities or Hurk Drubman Jr. for his explosive support, especially during outpost liberations.
