Prioritize Stealth and Reconnaissance
In Far Cry 5, rushing headlong into every encounter is a recipe for disaster. Prioritizing stealth and reconnaissance will save you countless lives and resources. Before engaging any enemy outpost or patrol, always use your binoculars (or your companion Jess Black's ability) to tag all enemies, alarms, and environmental hazards. This allows you to plan your approach, identify high-value targets like alarm operators, and locate potential escape routes.
A silenced weapon, whether it's a pistol, SMG, or bow, is your best friend for stealth takedowns. Aim for headshots to ensure one-hit kills. If you're spotted, immediately find cover and reposition. Remember that alarms, once triggered, will call in reinforcements, making the encounter sificantly harder. Disabling alarms should always be your top priority in any outpost. Utilize tall grass, bushes, and elevated positions to maintain cover and get the drop on unsuspecting enemies. Don't underestimate the power of a well-placed distraction, like throwing a rock, to lure enemies away from their posts.
Resource Management is Key
Effective resource management is crucial for long-term survival in Hope County. Always loot every enemy you kill and every container you find. This will provide you with cash, crafting materials, and ammunition. Prioritize collecting components like "Bliss Oil," "Titanium," and "Fasteners" as these are used for essential upgrades and crafting powerful items.
Hunting and fishing are excellent ways to earn money and gather crafting materials. Different animals yield different types of skins and meat, which can be sold at vendors. Investing in the 'Pack Rat' perk early on will sificantly increase your inventory space, allowing you to carry more loot and reduce trips back to vendors. Don't hoard items you don't need; sell excess animal parts, fish, and low-tier weapons to keep your wallet full. Always ensure you have a good supply of medkits and throwable items like Molotovs and grenades, as these can turn the tide of a difficult fight.
Utilize Your Companions (Fangs & Guns for Hire)
Your companions, both Fangs for Hire (animals) and Guns for Hire (humans), are invaluable assets in Far Cry 5. They can provide crucial support in combat, stealth, and even resource gathering. Each companion has unique abilities that can be leveraged to your advantage.
- Boomer (Dog): Tags enemies and retrieves weapons from fallen foes. Excellent for reconnaissance and ensuring you don't miss loot.
- Cheeseburger (Bear): A tank in combat, drawing enemy fire and dealing heavy damage. Perfect for direct assaults.
- Peaches (Cougar): Stealthy takedowns and distraction. Ideal for clearing outposts quietly.
- Jess Black (Archer): Stealth kills with her bow and can set enemies on fire. Great for supporting stealth approaches.
- Nick Rye (Pilot): Provides air support with his plane, bombing enemy vehicles and groups. Useful for clearing roads and outposts from above.
- Grace Armstrong (Sniper): Provides long-range cover fire, taking out high-priority targets. Excellent for supporting your advance.
Experiment with different companion combinations to find what best suits your playstyle and the current mission. Remember to revive them if they go down, as they can quickly turn the tide of battle.
