While Far Cry 5 doesn't offer the deep, modular customization for vehicles that you might find for weapons, you can still personalize your rides to stand out in Hope County and improve their utility. This guide will walk you through the available options and how to access them.

Accessing Vehicle Customization

Vehicle customization primarily occurs at specific locations: the various Garages scattered across Hope County. These are typically found at friendly outposts, general stores, and mission hubs. Look for the wrench icon on your map to pinpoint their exact locations.

Once at a Garage, approach the designated vehicle spawn point (often a large garage door or a marked parking spot) and interact with it. This will bring up your vehicle roster. Select the vehicle you wish to customize to enter the modification menu.

Customization Options Explained

The customization options for vehicles are generally limited to cosmetic changes and, for some specialized vehicles, pre-set upgrades. Here's what you can expect:

Skins/Paint Jobs:
- Selection: Most land vehicles (cars, trucks, ATVs) and some aircraft (helicopters, planes) offer a variety of pre-designed skins or paint jobs. These range from subtle color changes to more elaborate patterns and decals.
- Unlocking: New skins are often unlocked through various means:
  - Story Progression: Completing main story missions can unlock unique, faction-themed skins.
  - Side Missions/Prepper Stashes: Some side quests or discovering Prepper Stashes might reward you with exclusive vehicle aesthetics.
  - Shop Purchases: A selection of skins can be purchased directly from the Garage customization menu using in-game currency (dollars). Keep an eye on the "Skins" tab within the customization interface.
  - Ubisoft Club Rewards: Occasionally, special skins are available as rewards through the Ubisoft Club, requiring Club Units to unlock.
- Strategy: While purely cosmetic, a distinctive paint job can help you quickly identify your personal vehicle in a chaotic firefight or when calling it in from a distance. Consider a bright, easily recognizable color for your primary transport.
Vehicle Upgrades (Pre-set):
- Armored Vehicles: Certain vehicles, particularly the more robust trucks and armored cars, come with inherent upgrades that cannot be individually customized. These include increased durability and sometimes mounted weapons. Examples include the "Armored Technical" or the "Weaponized Pickup Truck."
- Weaponized Vehicles: Aircraft like the "Weaponized Helicopter" or the "Armed Seaplane" come equipped with fixed weaponry (machine guns, rockets). These weapon systems are part of the vehicle's base design and cannot be changed or upgraded independently.
- Purchasing Upgraded Variants: Instead of upgrading a base model, you'll often purchase an entirely new, pre-upgraded variant of a vehicle from the Garage or specific vendors. For instance, you might buy a standard "Pickup Truck" and later unlock and purchase a "Weaponized Pickup Truck" as a separate vehicle entry.
- Strategy: Prioritize unlocking and purchasing weaponized vehicles as soon as your budget allows. The added firepower significantly aids in clearing out cult roadblocks, engaging convoys, and providing air support. The "Weaponized Helicopter" is particularly effective for rapid traversal and aerial assaults.

Calling in Your Customized Vehicle

Once you've customized a vehicle, it becomes part of your personal fleet. You can then call it in at any vehicle spawn point (Garages, Docks for boats, Airstrips for planes/helicopters) or by using the "Vehicle Delivery" perk. The "Vehicle Delivery" perk is highly recommended as it allows you to summon your chosen land vehicle directly to your location, saving valuable travel time.
