Endings & Choices
Far Cry 6 offers players two distinct endings: the standard "Liberation" ending and a hidden "Secret" ending. Your choices throughout the game, particularly during the early stages, directly influence which ending you experience. This guide will walk you through how to achieve both, ensuring you don't miss out on any narrative possibilities.
The Standard Ending: Liberation
The standard ending, often referred to as the "Liberation" ending, is achieved by simply playing through the main story missions to their conclusion. There are no specific choices or actions required to unlock this ending other than completing the primary narrative arc.
Walkthrough to Liberation:
- Complete Main Operations: Progress through all the main story operations, starting from the initial missions on Isla Santuario and continuing through the regions of Madrugada, Valle de Oro, and El Este.
- Follow Clara's Plan: Adhere to the objectives given by Clara Garcia and the Libertad movement. This involves recruiting allies, sabotaging Castillo's operations, and ultimately confronting Antón Castillo.
- Final Confrontation: The story culminates in a direct confrontation with Antón Castillo aboard his yacht, the SS. Impassable. Successfully completing this final operation will trigger the standard ending cutscene.
In this ending, Dani Rojas fully commits to the revolution, leading Libertad to victory and the liberation of Yara. While the immediate aftermath is positive, the ending does hint at the complexities of governing a post-revolutionary nation.
The Secret Ending: Early Departure
The secret ending, often called the "Early Departure" ending, is a unique and easily missable alternative that can be triggered very early in the game. It offers a glimpse into a different path Dani could have taken, prioritizing personal safety over revolutionary ideals.
Unlocking the Secret Ending:
This ending becomes available after completing the initial set of missions on Isla Santuario, specifically after the operation titled "Libertad Rises."
- Complete "Libertad Rises": Play through the initial tutorial missions on Isla Santuario. This includes escaping the FND, meeting Clara and Juan, and establishing the initial Libertad hideout. The "Libertad Rises" operation concludes with Dani acquiring a boat and being presented with the opportunity to leave Yara.
- Reach the Designated Boat: After "Libertad Rises" is complete, Clara will give Dani a boat and instruct them to head to the main island of Yara. However, she also subtly offers Dani a choice: continue the fight or leave.
- Sail Away from Yara: Instead of heading towards the main island as instructed for the next main operation, turn the boat around. Sail directly out into the open ocean, away from Yara.
- Continue Sailing for Approximately 5-10 Minutes: You will need to continuously sail away from the island for a significant period. There isn't a precise marker, but keep going until a black screen appears.
What Happens in the Secret Ending:
After sailing far enough, a cutscene will trigger. Dani will be shown relaxing on a beach in Miami, three months later, listening to a radio broadcast. The broadcast details the continued oppression under Antón Castillo's regime and the failure of the Libertad revolution, implying that Dani's departure left Yara to its fate.
This ending serves as a powerful "what if" scenario, highlighting the personal cost and difficult choices faced by the protagonist. It's a quick and easy ending to achieve if you know what to look for, offering a stark contrast to the standard liberation narrative.
Impact of Choices
Beyond these two major endings, Far Cry 6 does not feature a branching narrative with multiple minor endings based on specific side quest completions or dialogue choices. The core story path remains largely linear, with the "Secret Ending" being the sole significant deviation from the main narrative.
- Side Quests & Yaran Stories: Completing side quests, Yaran Stories, and FND Bases will impact your progression, resources, and relationships with various NPCs, but they do not alter the ultimate outcome of the main story.
- Amigos: Your choice of Amigo (e.g., Guapo, Chorizo, Chicharrón) provides different combat advantages and companionship, but does not influence the ending.
- Gear & Weapons: The gear and weapons you acquire will affect your gameplay style and effectiveness in combat, but again, have no bearing on which ending you receive.
Therefore, if you wish to experience both endings, it is recommended to trigger the "Secret Ending" early in your playthrough, then either restart a new game or load a previous save to continue with the main story and achieve the "Liberation" ending.
