Upon starting a new game, you'll assume the role of Jack Carver, a former Special Forces operative. There are no character creation options in Far Cry; you play as Jack. However, you will be prompted to select a difficulty level. The available difficulties are: Easy, Medium, Hard, and Realistic. For newcomers to first-person shooters or those who prefer a more narrative-focused experience, Easy or Medium are recommended. Hard offers a significant challenge, with enemies being more accurate and dealing more damage. Realistic is for seasoned players, providing a brutal and unforgiving experience where every shot counts and mistakes are heavily punished. Your choice of difficulty will significantly impact enemy AI, damage output, and your overall survival chances. You cannot change difficulty mid-game, so choose wisely.
