Learn Far Cry's saving system: automatic checkpoints and crucial quicksaves (F5) to preserve progress and minimize replaying.

·Multi-source verified (52/52)

Far Cry utilizes a checkpoint-based saving system, supplemented by quicksaves. The game will automatically save your progress at key moments, such as completing objectives, entering new areas, or after significant combat encounters. These auto-saves are indicated by a small icon appearing on the screen. Additionally, you can perform a quicksave at almost any time by pressing the 'F5' key. This is an invaluable tool, especially before entering potentially dangerous areas or attempting tricky maneuvers. If you die, you will respawn at your last save point, either an auto-save or your most recent quicksave. It's highly recommended to quicksave frequently, particularly after clearing out enemy patrols or finding valuable items, to avoid replaying large sections of the game.
