Armor provides crucial Defense and Magic Defense, reducing incoming damage. Different races have access to different types of armor, and some armor pieces can also grant resistances to status ailments or elemental damage. Upgrading your armor is just as important as upgrading your weapons for survivability.

- Body Armor: The primary source of defense. Ranges from light robes (Yuke, Selkie) to heavy plate armor (Lilty, Clavat). Higher-tier body armor offers significant protection.
- Head Armor: Helmets, circlets, and hats provide additional defense and sometimes elemental resistances or stat boosts.
- Shields: Only Clavats can equip shields (as their swords are one-handed). Shields offer a substantial boost to Defense and can sometimes block projectiles or provide elemental resistances. Lilties, Yukes, and Selkies use two-handed weapons, preventing shield use.
When selecting armor, balance defense with any special properties it offers. For example, an armor piece that grants 'Poison Resistance' can be invaluable in areas with Malboros. Crafting new armor requires materials from dungeons and the services of your family's Tailor or Blacksmith.
