Relic List & Effects

Relics are invaluable treasures found throughout your journey in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. These special items provide permanent stat boosts or unique abilities to your character, making them essential for tackling tougher dungeons and bosses. Unlike artifacts, which are chosen at the end of a dungeon, relics are immediately equipped and their effects are applied as soon as you pick them up. This section details where to find each relic and what benefits they bestow upon your intrepid Crystal Caravan.

Understanding Relic Acquisition

Relics are typically found in chests or dropped by specific enemies within dungeons. Some are hidden behind puzzles, while others require defeating a mini-boss. Always keep an eye out for suspicious areas or breakable objects, as many relics are cleverly concealed. Remember, once a relic is obtained, its effect is permanent for that character for the remainder of the current dungeon run. If you leave the dungeon, you'll need to re-acquire any relics you want for subsequent runs.

Relic Breakdown by Dungeon

Goblin Wall

• Power Glove:
  • Effect: Increases your character's Attack power by 1.
  • Location: Found in a chest on the second floor of the Goblin Wall. After defeating the first wave of Goblins, proceed through the northern door. The chest is usually in the next room, often guarded by a Goblin or two.
  • Strategy: Prioritize acquiring this early in the dungeon to make subsequent encounters easier, especially for melee-focused characters like Clavats and Lilties.
• Shield:
  • Effect: Increases your character's Defense by 1.
  • Location: Dropped by the Goblin King boss in Goblin Wall.
  • Strategy: Focus on defeating the Goblin King efficiently. Having a well-coordinated party using elemental magic (Blizzard is effective against Goblins) can speed up the fight and secure this defense boost.

Mushroom Forest

• Force Ring:
  • Effect: Increases your character's Magic Attack by 1.
  • Location: Located in a hidden chest near the giant mushroom in the central area of the Mushroom Forest. Look for a path obscured by foliage on the eastern side.
  • Strategy: This is a crucial relic for Yuke and Selkie players who rely on magic. Explore every nook and cranny of the forest floor.
• Tome of Wisdom:
  • Effect: Increases your character's Magic Defense by 1.
  • Location: Found in a chest after defeating the Malboro boss.
  • Strategy: The Malboro can be a tough fight with its Bad Breath attack. Ensure your party has Esuna or Unicorn Horns ready. Once the beast is down, the chest containing the Tome of Wisdom will appear.

Mine of Cathuriges

• Heavy Gauntlet:
  • Effect: Increases your character's Attack power by 2.
  • Location: Found in a chest in the deeper sections of the Mine of Cathuriges, often after navigating a series of minecart tracks or defeating a large group of Ogre-type enemies.
  • Strategy: This significant attack boost is excellent for all physical attackers. Keep an eye on the minecart switches and explore all branching paths.
• Iron Shield:
  • Effect: Increases your character's Defense by 2.
  • Location: Dropped by the Orc King boss in the Mine of Cathuriges.
  • Strategy: The Orc King is a formidable opponent. Utilize hit-and-run tactics and exploit any elemental weaknesses (Fire magic works well). The Iron Shield will greatly enhance your survivability for the rest of the dungeon.

Selepation Cave

• Mystic Staff:
  • Effect: Increases your character's Magic Attack by 2.
  • Location: Found in a chest in the watery caverns of Selepation Cave, often requiring you to activate a hidden switch or clear a path of aquatic enemies.
  • Strategy: For magic users, this relic is a game-changer. Be thorough in your exploration of the cave's many interconnected chambers.
• Amulet:
  • Effect: Increases your character's Magic Defense by 2.
  • Location: Dropped by the Giant Crab boss in Selepation Cave.
  • Strategy: The Giant Crab's magic attacks can be devastating. Focus on dodging its projectiles and striking its vulnerable underside. The Amulet will provide much-needed protection against future magical threats.

General Relic Hunting Tips

• Explore Thoroughly: Many relics are off the beaten path. Don't rush through dungeons; take your time to check every corner, break every pot, and activate every switch.
• Co-op Advantage: In multiplayer, coordinate with your team. One player can focus on clearing enemies while another searches for hidden chests or triggers.
• Elemental Awareness: Knowing enemy weaknesses can speed up boss fights, allowing you to secure boss-dropped relics more quickly.
• Prioritize Needs: If your character is struggling with defense, prioritize finding defensive relics. If you need more damage, seek out attack-boosting ones. Tailor your relic hunt to your current character's build and the challenges ahead.
