Weapons in Final Fantasy III come in various types, each suited for specific jobs: Swords, Daggers, Axes, Spears, Bows, Staves, Rods, Knuckles, and Throwing Weapons. Each weapon type has different attack power, accuracy, and sometimes elemental properties or status effects. For example, Swords are versatile for Warriors and Knights, while Rods boost a Black Mage's magic power. Armor includes Shields, Helmets, Armor (heavy, light, robes), and Gauntlets/Bracers. Heavy armor offers high physical defense but restricts magic users, while robes provide magic defense and are suitable for mages.

Always aim to equip the best available weapon and armor for each character's current job. Pay attention to job proficiencies; a Warrior cannot equip a Rod, and a Black Mage will be ineffective with heavy armor. Shops in towns are your primary source for new gear, but many powerful items are found in treasure chests within dungeons or dropped by enemies. Some weapons also have hidden properties, such as dealing extra damage to specific enemy types or having a chance to cast a spell when used as an item in battle.
