Getting Started in the Ice Cavern
Navigating the Ice Cavern requires careful attention to Mist jets, which trigger battles if touched. While grinding isn't recommended here, Vivi's Fire spell is highly effective against most enemies, especially when cast as an area-of-effect. Conserve Vivi's MP by avoiding its use against single Cave Imps or Flans.
Upon entering the Cavern, locate a field icon to the left of your starting position. Interact with it to open a chest containing a Tent. Proceed to the next screen.
In the second screen, avoid the Mist jets and approach the distinctive ice wall. Vivi can melt this wall, revealing a chest with an Ether. After collecting the Ether, move to the center of the room. Bypass the stairs leading upwards and instead go to the right of them. This path leads behind the platform to a chest holding a Potion. Exit this area by heading north.
On the subsequent screen, continue to evade the Mist jets. Head right to find another chest containing a Potion. Once you have it, return down the pillar-like structure and search for a field icon. Vivi's magic will create a new path, leading to a chest with a Mage Masher. Equip this dagger on Zidane if you don't already have one.
