Walkthrough: World 3

Welcome to the final stretch of your epic journey! World 3 presents the ultimate challenges and the most powerful equipment. Prepare your party, as the enemies here are significantly tougher, and strategic job combinations are more crucial than ever.

The Interdimensional Rift

Upon entering World 3, you'll find yourself in the Interdimensional Rift. This sprawling dungeon is a gauntlet of previous areas, culminating in the final confrontation. There are several distinct sections:

The Void

  • This initial area is a twisted version of the Big Bridge.
  • Enemies: Expect encounters with Gilgamesh (though not the real one), Exdeath's Soul, and various powerful monsters.
  • Strategy: Focus on high-damage output. Berserk can be effective against some of the more physically oriented foes.
  • Treasure: Be diligent in searching for hidden passages. You can find a Ribbon in a chest near the end of this section, an essential accessory for status protection.

The Forest of Moore

  • A dark and corrupted version of the familiar forest.
  • Enemies: Expect powerful plant-type enemies and magical beasts. Watch out for enemies that inflict status effects like Poison and Confuse.
  • Strategy: Bring a White Mage with Esuna or a Chemist with Remedy to counter status ailments. Fire-based attacks are often effective here.
  • Treasure: A hidden path can lead to a chest containing the powerful Rune Axe, a great weapon for Knights or Berserkers.

The Library of the Ancients

  • This section mirrors the Library, filled with spectral enemies.
  • Enemies: Expect magic-using enemies and undead. Undead enemies are vulnerable to healing spells.
  • Strategy: A Mystic Knight with Holy or a White Mage's Cura/Curaga can make short work of the undead. Equip accessories that boost Magic Defense.
  • Treasure: Don't miss the Mage Masher, a dagger that can silence enemies, useful for controlling magic-heavy encounters.

The Pyramid

  • A recreation of the Pyramid of Moore, complete with traps and powerful guardians.
  • Enemies: Expect mummies, gargoyles, and other ancient guardians. Some enemies here can petrify your party.
  • Strategy: Equip Stone immunity accessories like the Coral Ring if you have them, or be ready with Gold Needles. A Monk's Barehanded attacks are strong against many enemies here.
  • Treasure: A well-hidden chest contains the Thief's Knife, a fantastic weapon for Thieves or Ninjas, allowing them to steal more often.

The Castle of Bal

  • A final, twisted version of Bal Castle.
  • Enemies: Expect heavily armored knights, dragons, and powerful magic users.
  • Strategy: Break out your strongest physical and magical attacks. Dragons are often weak to Dragon-killer abilities or elemental weaknesses.
  • Treasure: In one of the castle's towers, you can find the Brave Blade, a sword whose power depends on how many times you've fled from battle (the less you've fled, the stronger it is).

The Cleft of Dimension

After navigating the various sections of the Interdimensional Rift, you will reach the Cleft of Dimension, the final area before the ultimate boss. This area is a series of challenging boss encounters.

Neo Exdeath's Ante-Chamber

  • This area serves as a final save point and a chance to prepare before the final battles.
  • Preparation: Ensure your party is at a high level (ideally 45+), has mastered crucial job abilities, and is equipped with the best gear. Stock up on Potions, Hi-Potions, Ethers, and Phoenix Downs. Consider having a character with the "Mix" ability for powerful custom items.

Boss: Apocalypse

  • Location: The first major boss in the Cleft of Dimension.
  • Strategy: Apocalypse is a multi-part boss. Focus on one part at a time. It uses powerful elemental magic. Equip elemental resistance gear if possible. A well-placed Golem summon can absorb physical attacks.
  • Recommended Jobs: White Mage (healing, status removal), Black Mage (elemental damage), Knight (physical damage, Cover), Summoner (powerful summons like Bahamut or Leviathan).

Boss: Catastrophe

  • Location: The second major boss.
  • Strategy: Catastrophe specializes in gravity-based attacks that reduce HP by a percentage. It also uses Earth Shaker. Equip Float or use the Float spell to negate Earth Shaker. High HP is crucial here.
  • Recommended Jobs: Monk (high HP, physical damage), Geomancer (Float innate), Time Mage (Float spell, Haste).

Boss: Halicarnassus

  • Location: The third major boss.
  • Strategy: Halicarnassus is a magic-user who loves to cast "Toad" on your party. Have a White Mage ready with Esuna or use Maiden's Kiss. It also uses powerful offensive magic.
  • Recommended Jobs: Blue Mage (White Wind for healing, Mighty Guard for defense), Mystic Knight (Spellblade Silence or elemental Spellblades), Samurai (Gil Toss for high damage if you have the funds).

Boss: Twintania

  • Location: The fourth major boss.
  • Strategy: Twintania is a powerful dragon that uses physical attacks and the devastating "Mega Flare." It charges up for Mega Flare, giving you a turn or two to prepare. Use Mighty Guard or Shell to mitigate the damage.
  • Recommended Jobs: Dragoon (Jump to avoid Mega Flare, Dragon Lance for damage), Knight (Sentinel for defense), Chemist (Mix for Dragon's Kiss or other buffs).

Boss: Necrophobe

  • Location: The final boss before Exdeath.
  • Strategy: Necrophobe is protected by four Barriers. You must defeat all four Barriers before you can damage Necrophobe directly. Each Barrier has a weakness (Fire, Ice, Lightning, Earth). Once the Barriers are down, Gilgamesh will appear to help you!
  • Recommended Jobs: A balanced party with access to all elemental magic. A Samurai's "Zeninage" (Gil Toss) can be very effective against the Barriers.

The Final Battle: Exdeath & Neo Exdeath

After defeating Necrophobe, you will face Exdeath in his true form, followed by his ultimate manifestation, Neo Exdeath. This is it!

Boss: Exdeath

  • Strategy: Exdeath uses powerful physical attacks and spells like "Vacuum Wave" and "Flare." He also has a counter-attack that can be devastating. Focus on consistent damage and keeping your party healed.
  • Recommended Jobs: All your best! A Freelancer with mastered abilities from multiple jobs (e.g., Dual Wield, Rapid Fire, White Magic Lv. 6) is incredibly powerful.

Boss: Neo Exdeath

  • Strategy: Neo Exdeath is a multi-part boss, each part having its own HP and attacks. You need to defeat all four parts to win. One part uses physical attacks, another magic, one status effects, and the final one uses "Grand Cross," which inflicts random, powerful status effects.
  • Focus: Prioritize the part that uses "Grand Cross" to minimize its impact. Then, focus on the magic-using part.
  • Key Abilities:
    • Rapid Fire (Ranger/Freelancer): Incredible damage output.
    • Dual Wield (Ninja/Freelancer): Double your weapon attacks.
    • Spellblade (Mystic Knight): Apply elemental weaknesses or Silence.
    • White Magic (White Mage/Freelancer): Curaga, Arise, Esuna are vital.
    • Mix (Chemist): Dragon's Kiss, Goliath Tonic, or other powerful concoctions.
    • Summons (Summoner): Bahamut, Leviathan, Odin, Phoenix.
    • Mighty Guard (Blue Mage): Essential for defense.
  • Equipment: Equip your best weapons, armor, and accessories. Ribbons are highly recommended for status protection against Grand Cross.

With careful planning, strategic job usage, and a bit of luck, you will overcome Neo Exdeath and bring peace back to the worlds!
