Dungeons and Locations (World 1)
Welcome, adventurer, to the perilous and wondrous lands of World 1! This section will guide you through each crucial dungeon and location, ensuring you uncover every secret and overcome every challenge. Pay close attention to item locations and enemy strategies to make your journey smoother.
Wind Shrine
- Objective: Investigate the weakening Wind Crystal.
- Walkthrough:
- Upon entering, proceed north. You'll encounter a cutscene with the King.
- Head to the west side of the first floor to find a chest containing a Potion.
- Continue up the stairs to the second floor. In the room to the east, open the chest for a Tent.
- On the third floor, you'll find another chest directly ahead with a Leather Hat.
- Ascend to the fourth floor. In the center, you'll find the Wind Crystal chamber.
- Enemies: Goblin, Wing Raptor.
- Strategy: Goblins are weak and can be dispatched with basic attacks. Wing Raptors can use "Gust," which deals minor damage to one party member. Keep your HP up with Potions if necessary.
Tycoon Castle
- Objective: Meet with the King and Princess Lenna.
- Walkthrough:
- From the entrance, head north into the main hall.
- Speak to the guards and then proceed to the throne room for a cutscene.
- After the scene, explore the castle. In the west tower, on the second floor, you'll find a chest with a Broadsword.
- In the east tower, on the second floor, there's a chest containing a Potion.
- check the kitchen on the ground floor for some humorous dialogue and a hidden Ether in a pot (examine the northernmost pot).
- Items of Note: Broadsword, Potion, Ether.
Pirate's Hideout
- Objective: Locate the Pirate's ship and acquire it.
- Walkthrough:
- Upon entering, head north. You'll find a chest in the eastern alcove containing a Potion.
- Continue west and then north to find a hidden passage behind a waterfall. This leads to the Pirate's ship.
- After the cutscene, examine the barrel on the ship's deck for a hidden Phoenix Down.
- Items of Note: Potion, Phoenix Down.
Ship Graveyard
- Objective: Navigate the treacherous waters and escape.
- Walkthrough:
- First Area: From the starting point, go north to find a chest with a Potion. Then head west and north again to the next screen.
- Second Area: Head east across the plank. In the northernmost chest, you'll find an Antidote. Continue south and then west, following the path.
- Third Area: Move north. You'll see a chest on a small island to the east; this contains a Phoenix Down. Continue west and then south to find another chest with a Tent. Head north again to the next screen.
- Fourth Area: This area has multiple paths. Take the northern path first to reach a chest with a Leather Vest. Return and take the southern path. Before exiting, check the small alcove to the west for a chest containing an Ether.
- Fifth Area: This is the boss chamber. Prepare for battle!
- Enemies: Undead enemies are prevalent here. Use healing spells like "Cure" or "Potion" on them to deal damage. Zombie, Ghoul, Skeleton.
- Boss: Siren
- Strategy: Siren has two forms: living and undead. In her living form, she is vulnerable to physical attacks. When she transforms into her undead form, use "Cure" magic or items like "Potion" or "Phoenix Down" on her for massive damage. She can inflict "Confuse," so be ready with "Esuna" or "Antidote" if needed. Focus on one form at a time.
- Reward: You'll gain the "Freelancer" job after this battle, along with the ability to use "Job" commands.
- Items of Note: Potion x2, Antidote, Phoenix Down, Tent, Leather Vest, Ether.
Lickorish Dungeon
- Objective: Traverse the dungeon to reach the next area.
- Walkthrough:
- From the entrance, head north. You'll find a chest with a Potion to your left.
- Continue east, then north, and take the first path leading west. This leads to a chest containing a Tent.
- Return to the main path and continue north. You'll encounter a series of small rooms. In the easternmost room, there's a chest with a Broadsword.
- Proceed to the next screen. Here, you'll find a chest with a Phoenix Down to the west.
- Follow the path until you reach the exit.
- Enemies: Black Goblin, Nutkin, Stroper.
- Strategy: Black Goblins are slightly stronger than regular Goblins. Nutkins are fast but have low HP. Stropers can inflict "Poison," so have "Antidotes" ready.
- Items of Note: Potion, Tent, Broadsword, Phoenix Down.
Worus Tower
- Objective: Reach the top of the tower and investigate the Water Crystal.
- Walkthrough:
- Ground Floor: Head north and take the stairs up.
- Second Floor: Go clockwise around the central pillar. You'll find a chest with a Potion. Continue up.
- Third Floor: Head counter-clockwise. There's a chest with a Tent.
- Fourth Floor: Go clockwise again. You'll find a chest containing a Mythril Knife.
- Fifth Floor: Counter-clockwise. A chest with a Phoenix Down awaits.
- Sixth Floor: Clockwise. Another chest, this one holds a Maiden's Kiss.
- Seventh Floor: This floor has a save point. Use it! Then proceed to the top.
- Enemies: Garkimasra, Objet d'Art, Worus Knight.
- Strategy: Garkimasras can cast "Thunder." Objet d'Arts are weak to "Fire." Worus Knights are standard physical attackers. Consider having a Black Mage for elemental weaknesses.
- Boss: Garula
- Strategy: Garula is a formidable beast. He hits hard with physical attacks. Have your White Mage ready with "Cure" spells. If you have a Monk, "Focus" and then "Kick" can deal significant damage. He is susceptible to "Slow," which can make the fight much easier. Keep your HP above 100.
- Reward: You'll gain the "Knight" and "Monk" jobs after this battle.
- Items of Note: Potion, Tent, Mythril Knife, Phoenix Down, Maiden's Kiss.
North Mountain
- Objective: Traverse the mountain to reach the next destination.
- Walkthrough:
- From the entrance, head north. You'll find a chest to the east containing a Potion.
- Continue along the winding path. You'll encounter a series of ledges. Take the lower path first to find a chest with a Phoenix Down.
- Go back and take the upper path. You'll eventually reach a cave entrance.
- Inside the cave, follow the path. There's a chest with a Tent in a small alcove.
- Exit the cave to the next mountain section.
- Proceed until you reach the summit, where a cutscene will trigger.
- Enemies: Golem, Mandragora, Yellow Dragon.
- Strategy: Golems have high defense. Mandragoras can inflict "Poison." Yellow Dragons are dangerous; they can use "Thunder" and have high HP. Consider using "Silence" on them if you have a Black Mage.
- Items of Note: Potion, Phoenix Down, Tent.
Karnak Castle
- Objective: Rescue the Queen and investigate the Fire Crystal.
- Walkthrough:
- Upon entering, you'll be thrown into a prison cell.
- After the events, you'll have a limited time to escape. Prioritize getting the chests!
- Timer Starts:
- First Floor: Head east from the starting point. In the first room you enter, there's a chest with a Long Sword.
- Continue east and then north into the next room. There's a chest with a Mythril Sword.
- Head west and then north into the throne room. To the left of the throne, there's a chest with a Mythril Axe. To the right, a chest with a Mythril Spear.
- Exit the throne room to the west. In the next room, you'll find a chest with a Mythril Bow.
- Continue west and then south. In the final room before the exit, there's a chest with a Green Beret.
- Now, quickly make your way out of the castle!
- Enemies: Iron Claw, Gigas, Flame Soldier.
- Strategy: Iron Claws are quick. Gigas hit hard. Flame Soldiers are weak to "Ice" magic. During the timed escape, avoid unnecessary battles if your party is low on HP/MP.
- Boss: Liquid Flame
- Strategy: Liquid Flame changes forms. In its human form, it's vulnerable to "Ice" magic. In its hand form, it's weak to "Wind" magic. In its tornado form, it's vulnerable to "Water" magic. Adapt your attacks accordingly. Keep a White Mage healing constantly, as its "Fire" attacks can be devastating.
- Reward: You'll gain the "Red Mage," "Thief," and "Berserker" jobs.
- Items of Note: Long Sword, Mythril Sword, Mythril Axe, Mythril Spear, Mythril Bow, Green Beret.
Fire-Powered Ship
- Objective: Navigate the ship and activate the engine.
- Walkthrough:
- From the entrance, head north. You'll find a chest with a Potion.
- Continue along the path, taking the stairs down.
- On the lower level, head west. There's a chest with an Ether.
- Proceed to the engine room. After the cutscene, examine the console to activate the ship.
- Enemies: Motor Trap, Defeater.
- Strategy: Motor Traps can self-destruct for heavy damage; try to defeat them quickly. Defeaters are standard attackers.
- Items of Note: Potion, Ether.
Ancient Library
- Objective: Find Cid and Mid and learn about the Earth Crystal.
- Walkthrough:
- Upon entering, head north. You'll find a chest with a Potion in the western alcove.
- Continue north and speak to the various scholars.
- Head to the second floor. In the eastern section, there's a chest with a Phoenix Down.
- In the western section, you'll find a chest with a Tent.
- Proceed to the third floor. In the northernmost room, you'll find Cid and Mid.
- Enemies: Page 32, Page 64, Page 128, Page 256.
- Strategy: These "Page" enemies are weak to "Fire" magic. They can cast various elemental spells, so be prepared to heal.
- Items of Note: Potion, Phoenix Down, Tent.
Jacole Cave
- Objective: Traverse the cave to reach the next area.
- Walkthrough:
- From the entrance, head north. You'll find a chest with a Potion.
- Continue east, then north. Take the first path leading west to find a chest with a Tent.
- Return to the main path and continue north. You'll find a chest with a Mythril Dagger in a small alcove to the east.
- Proceed to the next screen. Here, you'll find a chest with a Phoenix Down to the west.
- Follow the path until you reach the exit.
- Enemies: Cave Bat, Skull Eater, Ironclad.
- Strategy: Cave Bats are quick. Skull Eaters can inflict "Confuse." Ironclads have high defense.
- Items of Note: Potion, Tent, Mythril Dagger, Phoenix Down.
