Post-Game Content

Congratulations, adventurer! You've vanquished Exdeath and saved the world, but your journey in Final Fantasy V is far from over. The post-game offers a wealth of challenges, hidden secrets, and powerful rewards for those brave enough to seek them out. Prepare for some of the toughest battles and most rewarding discoveries the game has to offer!

The Sealed Temple (GBA/Pixel Remaster Exclusive)

For players of the Game Boy Advance and Pixel Remaster versions, the Sealed Temple is the primary post-game dungeon, offering a significant extension to the story and new, formidable bosses. Accessing it requires completing the main story.

  1. Locating the Temple: After defeating Exdeath, return to the world map. The Sealed Temple will appear as a new location on the northern continent, near where the Great Forest of Moore once stood.
  2. Entry Requirements: There are no specific item requirements to enter, but be prepared for a gauntlet of battles. Your party should ideally be at least Level 50, with mastered jobs and optimized equipment.
  3. Navigating the Temple: The Sealed Temple is a multi-floor dungeon with branching paths. It's filled with high-HP enemies and environmental puzzles.
    • Key Items: Keep an eye out for hidden passages and switches. Some areas require specific Job abilities like Dash (from Thief) or Float (from White Mage) to navigate safely.
    • Save Points: Utilize the rare save points wisely. Consider bringing a party with a Chemist for Mix abilities to restore MP and HP between battles.
  4. Boss Encounters: The Sealed Temple features several new bosses, each with unique strategies:
    • Omega Mk.II: An upgraded version of the infamous Omega. This fight demands high Magic Defense and swift physical attacks. Consider using Rapid Fire (Ranger) or Spellblade Flare (Mystic Knight) for maximum damage. Equipping Ribbons is highly recommended to prevent status ailments.
    • Shinryu Mk.II: Even more dangerous than the original. This dragon uses devastating elemental attacks. Equip Coral Rings and Flame Rings to absorb or halve elemental damage. Dragon's Kiss (Trainer) can be effective, as can Golem for physical protection.
    • Enuo: The ultimate boss of the Sealed Temple. Enuo has multiple forms and a vast array of powerful attacks. This battle is a true test of your party's versatility and preparation. Focus on high damage output while maintaining healing and defensive buffs. Mighty Guard (Blue Mage) is invaluable.
  5. Rewards: Defeating Enuo grants access to the Freelancer's Ultimate Ability (GBA/Pixel Remaster), allowing them to equip any two abilities from any mastered job, making them incredibly versatile. You'll also find powerful new equipment and rare items throughout the dungeon.

Optional Superbosses (All Versions)

Even in the original SNES version, two legendary superbosses await those seeking the ultimate challenge. These foes are significantly tougher than even the final form of Exdeath and require meticulous planning and often specific job setups.

Omega

Omega is a mechanical terror renowned for its high defense, immunity to most status effects, and devastating attacks. It can be found in the Fork Tower (after it has fallen) or in the Deep Sea Trench (World 3).

  1. Location:
    • Fork Tower (Collapsed): After the Fork Tower collapses, you can revisit its ruins. Omega patrols a specific area on the ground level.
    • Deep Sea Trench: In the final world, Omega can be found on a specific screen within the Deep Sea Trench, often guarding a treasure.
  2. Preparation:
    • Levels: Aim for Level 60+ for a fighting chance.
    • Jobs: A common strategy involves a Mime with Rapid Fire (Ranger) and Dual Wield (Ninja), or a Freelancer with similar abilities. Spellblade Flare (Mystic Knight) is also highly effective.
    • Equipment: Equip Ribbons to prevent status ailments. Thornlet can be useful for its Magic Defense. Hermes' Shoes for Haste are always a good choice.
    • Abilities: Guard Off (Time Mage) can reduce Omega's defenses. Golem (Summoner) provides crucial physical damage reduction.
  3. Strategy:
    • Omega counters most attacks with powerful abilities like Wave Cannon and Atomic Ray.
    • Focus on overwhelming physical damage. Rapid Fire with powerful weapons (e.g., Ragnarok, Excalibur) is key.
    • Use Haste and Slow to manipulate turn order.
    • Be prepared for a long battle. Constant healing and revival are essential.
  4. Reward: Defeating Omega earns you the Omega Badge, a testament to your skill.

Shinryu

Shinryu is a monstrous dragon found in the Deep Sea Trench (World 3), guarding one of the most powerful weapons in the game. It is infamous for its immediate, devastating opening attack.

  1. Location: Shinryu is found at the very end of the Deep Sea Trench, guarding the Ragnarok sword.
  2. Preparation:
    • Levels: Similar to Omega, Level 60+ is highly recommended.
    • Jobs: A party with Freelancers or Mimes with Rapid Fire and Dual Wield is ideal. A Blue Mage with Mighty Guard is invaluable.
    • Equipment: This is critical! Every party member MUST equip a Coral Ring (found in various locations, including the Sunken Worus Tower) to absorb Shinryu's opening Tidal Wave attack. Without it, your party will likely be wiped out instantly.
    • Abilities: Dragon's Kiss (Trainer) can turn Shinryu into a Dragon-type, making it vulnerable to Dragon Lance (Dragoon) and other dragon-specific attacks. Gale Slash (Samurai) can inflict heavy damage.
  3. Strategy:
    • Opening Move: Shinryu always opens with Tidal Wave. With Coral Rings equipped, this will heal your party instead of damaging them.
    • Elemental Attacks: Shinryu uses powerful elemental spells like Flare, Blizzaga, Thundaga, and Firaga. Consider equipping Flame Rings or Ice Shields if you have them.
    • Damage Output: Focus on high single-target damage. Rapid Fire with Dual Wield is your best friend.
    • Healing: Be prepared for constant healing with Curaga and Elixirs.
  4. Reward: Defeating Shinryu grants you the legendary Ragnarok sword, a powerful weapon that can cast Flare when used as an item in battle.

Mastering All Jobs

For completionists, a significant post-game goal is to master every single job for each character. This unlocks the full potential of the Freelancer and Mime jobs, allowing them to equip any two abilities and retain all mastered stat bonuses.

  • Best Grinding Spots:
    • Phoenix Tower: The enemies here give excellent ABP (Ability Points). The Magic Pots (feed them an Elixir for massive ABP) and Mover enemies are particularly lucrative.
    • Island Shrine: The enemies in the Island Shrine (accessible via submarine in World 3) also provide good ABP and experience.
    • Void (Final Dungeon): Certain areas within the final dungeon, particularly the sections leading to Neo Exdeath, have high-ABP enemies.
  • ABP Boosters:
    • Learning ABP Up: The Freelancer and Mime jobs gain the ABP Up ability automatically, which doubles ABP earned.
    • Equipping ABP Up: The Thief's Glove accessory also grants ABP Up. Equipping this on characters grinding jobs is highly recommended.
  • Strategy: Equip a character with Freelancer or Mime and ABP Up, then assign them the job you wish to master. Grind in high-ABP areas until the job is mastered, then switch to the next.

Collecting All Blue Magic Spells

If you haven't already, the post-game is the perfect time to track down any remaining Blue Magic spells. Many powerful spells are learned from rare enemies or bosses.

  • Key Spells to Acquire:
    • Mighty Guard: Learned from Stingray (found in the ocean around Crescent Island) or Shinryu (if you survive its cast).
    • White Wind: Learned from White Dragon (Drakenvale) or Page 64 (Library of the Ancients).
    • Goblin Punch: Learned from Goblin (various early game areas). Surprisingly powerful in certain setups.
    • Level 5 Death: Learned from Page 64 (Library of the Ancients) or Executor (Exdeath's Castle).
    • Aero3: Learned from Gargoyle (various locations in World 2).
  • Learning Strategy: Equip the Learn ability (Blue Mage) on a character. Reduce the enemy's HP to critical, then wait for them to cast the desired Blue Magic. Use Control (Trainer) or Confuse to force enemies to cast spells on your party if they are reluctant.

Treasure Hunting and Rare Items

Many valuable items, weapons, and armor can be missed during the main story or are only accessible after certain events. Revisit old dungeons and explore the world map thoroughly.

  • The Legendary Weapons: Ensure you have all 12 legendary weapons. Some are found in specific locations, others require defeating bosses.
  • Ribbons: These invaluable accessories protect against most status ailments. Seek out all available Ribbons (e.g., from the Phantom Village, or as drops from certain enemies).
  • Elixirs: Stock up on Elixirs for the toughest challenges. They can be found in chests or stolen from certain enemies.
  • Magic Pots: These rare enemies (found in the Phoenix Tower) drop Elixirs when defeated after being fed one.

By tackling these post-game challenges, you'll truly master Final Fantasy V, push your party to its limits, and uncover every secret this classic RPG has to offer!
