Materia are magical orbs that grant characters various abilities, from offensive spells to defensive buffs and unique skills. Understanding how to equip and combine Materia is crucial for success in Final Fantasy VII Remake. Each Materia type has a distinct color and function, impacting combat, exploration, and character development. Mastering Materia synergy can turn the tide of battle and unlock powerful new strategies.

Materia is categorized by its color, each representing a different function:

• Red Materia: Command Materia. These grant active abilities that can be used in combat, such as Steal or Throw.
• Green Materia: Magic Materia. These allow characters to cast spells, ranging from elemental attacks like Fire and Blizzard to healing spells like Cure.
• Blue Materia: Support Materia. These Materia do not have an effect on their own but enhance the Materia linked to them in an adjacent slot. Examples include ATK UP and MP Absorb.
• Yellow Materia: Skill Materia. These provide passive abilities or unique combat skills that can be activated. Examples include ATB Boost and Revival.
• Purple Materia: Unique Materia. These offer special effects not found in other categories, such as HP Absorb or MP Up.

The effectiveness of Materia can be further amplified by linking them together. For instance, linking a Magic Materia with an Elemental Materia can imbue spells with elemental properties, or linking it with a Support Materia like MP Absorb can restore MP when dealing damage.

Players will find Materia throughout their journey, often as rewards for completing quests, found in chests, or purchased from shops. Experimenting with different Materia combinations is key to discovering powerful synergies and tailoring your party's abilities to overcome any challenge.
