Combat & Character Progression Trophies
These trophies focus on mastering the combat system, leveling up, and acquiring powerful gear.
Weapons Master
Learn all weapon abilities.
To earn this trophy, you must master every weapon ability for all characters. Each weapon has a unique ability that can be permanently learned by using it enough times in combat. Once learned, the ability can be used with any weapon equipped. The fastest way to grind this is to equip a new weapon, use its ability once or twice in a battle, then switch to another weapon or character. Repeat until all abilities are learned. You can check your progress in the "Weapons" tab of the main menu.
- Strategy: Prioritize learning new abilities as soon as you acquire a new weapon. Equip the weapon, use its ability until the proficiency bar is full (indicated by a star), then you can switch back to your preferred weapon. Battles in the Shinra Combat Simulator or repeatable side quests are excellent for this.
- Key Locations: Keep an eye out for weapon chests in every chapter. purchase new weapons from vendors in Sector 7 Slums, Sector 5 Slums, and Wall Market.
Materia Master
Master all types of Materia.
This trophy requires you to level up every single piece of Materia in the game to its maximum level. This includes all Command, Magic, Support, Independent, and Summon Materia. Materia gains AP (Ability Points) from battles. Equipping multiple copies of the same Materia will not speed up the process for a single piece, but it will allow you to master multiple copies simultaneously.
- Strategy: The best place to grind Materia AP is in Chapter 16 (Shinra Building) or Chapter 17 (Shinra Combat Simulator) on Hard Mode. The "Three-Person Team vs. Top Secrets" challenge in the Combat Simulator offers significant AP rewards. Equip AP Up Materia (found in Chapter 14, Sector 6 Slums, in a chest near the collapsed highway) to double the AP earned by the linked Materia.
- Essential Materia: Ensure you collect all unique Materia throughout the game, such as Magnify, Steadfast Block, and all Summon Materia.
Hardened Veteran
Complete all chapters on Hard difficulty.
This is arguably the most challenging trophy. Hard Mode significantly increases enemy health and damage, removes item usage in battle, and restricts MP restoration to specific benches. Careful planning, Materia setups, and combat execution are crucial.
- Preparation: Before attempting Hard Mode, ensure all characters are level 50, all weapons are upgraded, and you have a good selection of mastered Materia. Recommended Materia includes Healing, Revive, Barrier, Manawall, Steadfast Block, HP Up, MP Up, and Elemental (linked with Fire/Ice/Lightning/Wind).
- Key Strategies:
- MP Management: MP is precious. Use Magnify + Healing outside of combat to heal the party efficiently. Save MP for critical spells like Revive, Barrier, and offensive spells against bosses.
- Synergy: Utilize character strengths. Cloud for physical damage, Tifa for stagger building, Aerith for magic and healing, Barret for ranged attacks and ATB generation.
- Staggering: Staggering enemies is vital. Focus on building the stagger gauge with abilities like Tifa's Focused Strike/Focused Shot and Cloud's Focused Thrust.
- Defensive Play: Block frequently. Perfect blocks reduce damage and can even build ATB. Use Barrier/Manawall against powerful magical attacks.
- Summons: Summons are incredibly powerful on Hard Mode. Save them for boss fights or tough elite encounters.
Exploration & Collectible Trophies
These trophies reward thorough exploration and finding all the hidden secrets Midgar has to offer.
Disc Jockey
Collect all music discs.
There are 31 music discs scattered throughout Midgar. Many are purchased from vendors, while others are found in specific locations or as rewards for side quests. Keep an eye out for jukeboxes, as interacting with them will often reveal nearby disc vendors.

- Chapter 6: Sector 4 Plate (one disc found).

Minigame & Miscellaneous Trophies
These trophies involve excelling in the various minigames and completing other specific tasks.
Sultan of Squat
Complete all squat challenges.
Found in the Wall Market gym during Chapter 9. There are three tiers of squat challenges: Beginner, Intermediate, and Pro. You must win all three against the respective opponents.
- Strategy: The key is rhythm. Watch the button prompts carefully and press them precisely. The timing gets faster with each tier. Practice makes perfect!
Peerless Playmaker
Complete all pull-up challenges.
Also found in the Wall Market gym, but only accessible during Chapter 14 after completing the main story. Similar to squats, there are three tiers: Beginner, Intermediate, and Pro.
- Strategy: The pull-up challenge requires a different button sequence, often involving holding and releasing. Pay close attention to the visual cues. Again, rhythm and practice are essential.
Dressed to the Nines
Acquire all nine dresses.
This trophy involves unlocking all three unique dresses for Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith during Chapter 9. The specific dress you receive depends on the choices you make and the side quests you complete in Chapters 3, 8, and 9.
- Cloud's Dresses:
- Simple Dress: Complete 0-2 side quests in Chapter 3.
- Stylish Dress: Complete 3-5 side quests in Chapter 3.
- Luxury Dress: Complete all 6 side quests in Chapter 3.
- Tifa's Dresses:
- Mature Dress: Choose "Tifa, you look great" in Chapter 3.
- Sporty Dress: Choose "Tifa, look at you!" in Chapter 3.
- Exotic Dress: Choose "Tifa, is that all you got?" in Chapter 3.
- Aerith's Dresses:
- Simple Dress: Complete 0-2 side quests in Chapter 8.
- Stylish Dress: Complete 3-5 side quests in Chapter 8.
- Luxury Dress: Complete all 6 side quests in Chapter 8.
- Actionable Steps: Use Chapter Select to replay Chapters 3, 8, and 9 multiple times. For each playthrough, focus on getting a specific combination of dresses. For example, one run for Cloud's Luxury, Tifa's Mature, and Aerith's Luxury. Another run for Cloud's Simple, Tifa's Sporty, and Aerith's Simple.
Divine Devotee
Befriend all three of the neighborhood cats.
This trophy is obtained in Chapter 8. You need to complete all six side quests in Chapter 8 to befriend the cats. Specifically, completing "Kids on Patrol" and "Chocobo Search" are directly related to the cats.
- Strategy: Simply complete all available side quests in Chapter 8. The cats will appear around Aerith's house and the Sector 5 Slums.
Cries of the Planet
Complete all Battle Intel reports.
Chadley, the young Shinra researcher, will give you Battle Intel reports starting in Chapter 3. These reports require you to perform specific actions in combat, such as staggering enemies a certain number of times, exploiting elemental weaknesses, or defeating specific enemy types. Completing all 20 reports unlocks powerful new Materia for purchase.
- Strategy: Regularly check in with Chadley in Sector 7 Slums, Sector 5 Slums, or Wall Market. Pay attention to the requirements for each report and actively work towards them during battles. Many reports are cumulative, so you'll naturally progress through them.
- Key Materia Rewards: Completing reports unlocks Materia like Assess, Steal, Elemental, HP Absorb, and the powerful Bahamut Summon Materia.
Ultimate Weapon
Defeat the Pride and Joy Prototype.
This is the ultimate combat challenge! The Pride and Joy Prototype is the final boss of the "Three-Person Team vs. Top Secrets" challenge in the Shinra Combat Simulator (Chapter 17, Hard Mode). You must first defeat all other Combat Simulator challenges to unlock this one.
- Preparation: Maxed-out characters (Level 50), fully upgraded weapons, and a comprehensive Materia setup are essential. Consider Materia like Revive, Healing, Barrier, Manawall, Steadfast Block, HP Up, MP Up, Elemental + Fire/Ice/Lightning/Wind, Magic Up, Luck Up, and Parry.
- Strategy: This fight is a gauntlet against multiple powerful bosses, including Shiva, Fat Chocobo, Leviathan, Bahamut (with Ifrit), and finally, Pride and Joy.
- Bahamut Phase: This is often the hardest part. Bahamut has a countdown to Megaflare. You MUST stagger him before he unleashes it, or it's likely a wipe. Use abilities that rapidly build stagger, like Tifa's Focused Strike/Focused Shot and Cloud's Focused Thrust. Have Elemental + Ice Materia equipped on a character to deal significant damage.
- Pride and Joy Phase: Pride and Joy is weak to Lightning. Equip Elemental + Lightning. Focus on taking down its arms first to reduce its attack power. Use Limit Breaks and Summons strategically. Aerith's Arcane Ward can double spell damage, making her invaluable.
- Team Composition: A common and effective team is Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith due to their offensive and supportive capabilities.
Good luck, aspiring heroes! With this guide, you'll be well on your way to earning every trophy and achievement Final Fantasy VII Remake has to offer.
