Item Refining & Magic Conversion Exploits
Mastering item refining and magic conversion is crucial in Final Fantasy VIII Remastered for acquiring powerful spells and rare items. Spells are drawn from enemies or draw points, or by refining items and cards. This system offers extensive customization, allowing you to convert common resources into valuable assets for your party.
The game's unique magic system allows spells to be acquired in several ways:
- Drawing: Spells can be drawn directly from enemies during battle or from designated Draw Points found throughout the environment.
- Refining: Items and cards can be refined into spells. This is a powerful method for obtaining spells that might be difficult to draw in large quantities.
Spells are stocked as inventory, up to 100 per spell, with a limit of 32 distinct spells per character. These stocked spells are consumed one by one when used. A key aspect of the junction system is equipping these spells to character statistics (like Strength, Vitality, and Luck) to gain various bonuses, provided a Guardian Force (GF) is junctioned.
One notable refining exploit involves the Eden Card. While it's a strong playing card with high left (A) and bottom (9) sides, it can be refined into three Monk's Code items using Card Mod. Monk's Code items teach a GF the Counter ability. For those seeking to further optimize, Monk's Code can then be refined into Str Up items via Forbid Med-RF.
For acquiring items through idle gameplay, the Angelo Search ability can yield a variety of items. If you have the Steam version, Chocobo World is a significantly faster way to earn these items. The items and their approximate odds from Angelo Search are:
