Stopping the Missiles

Infiltrate the Galbadian Missile Base in Final Fantasy VIII Remastered. This guide helps you disarm the threat and gather vital items during your critical miss.

Stopping the Missiles

After the harrowing escape from D-District Prison, your next critical mission is to infiltrate the Galbadian Missile Base and prevent a catastrophic missile launch. This section will guide you through the base, ensuring you disarm the threat and collect valuable items along the way.

Preparation is Key

Before you even step foot into the missile base, ensure your party is well-equipped. Junction your best available magic to your stats, particularly HP-J, Str-J, and Vit-J. Consider equipping GFs with abilities like Auto-Protect or Auto-Shell if you have them. Stock up on healing items like Potions, Hi-Potions, and a few Phoenix Downs. draw any new magic from enemies you encounter!

Navigating the Missile Base

  1. Entrance and Initial Choices:
    • Upon entering, you'll be presented with a choice: either split into two teams or proceed as one. For simplicity and to keep your main combatants together, it's recommended to proceed as one team.
    • Head straight through the initial corridor.
  2. The Control Room:
    • You'll soon reach a control room. Interact with the console to initiate a sequence.
    • A timer will begin counting down. This timer dictates how much time you have to disable the missiles. Don't panic, but be efficient.
    • Important: Before leaving this room, check the left side for a hidden draw point containing Cure magic.
  3. The Missile Silo Access:
    • From the control room, take the door leading to the right.
    • You'll encounter several Galbadian Soldiers. These enemies are relatively straightforward; use physical attacks and elemental magic they are weak against (often Fire or Thunder).
    • Continue through the corridors until you reach an elevator. Take the elevator down.
  4. Disarming the Missiles:
    • Once downstairs, you'll be in the main missile silo area.
    • There are multiple missile launch terminals. You need to interact with each one to disarm the missiles.
    • Strategy: Prioritize disarming the missiles closest to your current position. The order doesn't strictly matter, but efficiency is key given the timer.
    • Be prepared for random encounters with Galbadian Soldiers and occasionally more formidable enemies like GIM52A. Use your GFs if you're struggling, but try to conserve their power for the upcoming boss.
    • After disarming all visible missiles, a new path will open up.
  5. The Final Control Panel:
    • Follow the newly accessible path. You'll eventually reach a room with a central control panel.
    • Interact with this panel to complete the missile disarming sequence.
    • Don't forget: There's a hidden draw point in this room, usually containing Protect or Shell magic.

Boss Battle: BGH251F2

Once the missiles are disarmed, you'll face the formidable BGH251F2, a massive Galbadian war machine. This boss can be challenging if you're unprepared.

  • Weaknesses: The BGH251F2 is weak to Thunder magic. Junction Thunder to your attack stats if possible, or have characters ready to cast it.
  • Strategy:
    • Focus your attacks on the main body of the BGH251F2.
    • It has powerful physical attacks and can inflict status ailments. Have a character ready to use Esuna or Remedy if needed.
    • Summon your most powerful GFs like Shiva or Quezacotl, especially if they have high compatibility with your active party members.
    • Keep your HP high with Cure spells or items.
    • If you have Double or Triple magic, use it to cast Thunder multiple times per turn for significant damage.
  • Rewards: Defeating the BGH251F2 will earn you valuable AP, Gil, and potentially some useful items.

With the BGH251F2 defeated and the missiles neutralized, you've successfully completed this critical mission. Prepare for the next phase of your journey!
