Trabia Garden & Galbadia Garden Assault

Guide Squall's party through the Trabia Garden missile attack and the Galbadian assault on Balamb Garden in Final Fantasy VIII Remastered.

Trabia Garden & Galbadia Garden Assault

After escaping imprisonment, Squall's party faces Edea's retaliatory missile strike on Trabia Garden, followed by an assault on Balamb Garden. Selphie delays the missile launch, allowing Squall's team to activate Balamb Garden's mobile functions. The Garden then crashes into Fishermans' Horizon, leading to a Galbadian invasion in search of Ellone.

Following Squall's party's escape from prison, Edea launches a missile strike that destroys Trabia Garden. She then prepares to attack Balamb Garden. Selphie plays a crucial role in delaying the missile launch, providing Squall's team with enough time to return to Balamb Garden and activate its mobile functions. This allows Balamb Garden to evade the incoming missiles, though it subsequently crashes into the docks at Fishermans' Horizon.

While Balamb Garden undergoes repairs, Galbadia invades Fishermans' Horizon. Their primary objective is to locate a girl named Ellone, who had been residing at Balamb Garden. Before her departure, Ellone reveals her ability to send Squall and his team into flashbacks set 17 years in the past. These flashbacks center on Laguna and his journey from a Galbadian soldier to a village protector and ultimately to the leader of an Estharian resistance against Sorceress Adel. Ellone eventually escapes to Esthar.

Players should be aware of permanently missable content in Final Fantasy games. This refers to items, characters, sidequests, abilities, or spells that can be obtained at one point but become permanently unavailable if not acquired before a certain game progression or if their location becomes unrevisitable. Rare items are often harder to obtain past a particular point.

A map of Galbadia Garden is available by dvpmedeiros on PS4.
