One of the most iconic optional bosses is the Omega Weapon. This colossal entity is hidden deep within the Centra Ruins and is considered one of the game's toughest challenges. Defeating Omega Weapon requires a highly optimized party, maxed-out stats, and a deep understanding of the game's combat mechanics. The reward for this monumental task is the Lionheart ultimate weapon for Squall, though it can also be obtained through other means.

Another notable optional encounter is the Ultima Weapon, found at the bottom of the Deep Sea Research Center.
