Post-Game Activities

Congratulations, Sphere Hunter! You've navigated the complexities of Spira and perhaps even achieved the coveted "Perfect Ending." But the adventure doesn't truly end there. Final Fantasy X-2 offers a wealth of post-game content designed to challenge your skills, deepen your understanding of Spira, and reward your dedication. This section will guide you through the most significant activities available after completing the main story.

New Game+

Upon completing the game, you'll have the option to start a New Game+. This allows you to carry over a significant portion of your progress, making subsequent playthroughs easier or enabling you to focus on missed content and achieve 100% completion. Here's what transfers:

  • Dresspheres: All Dresspheres you've acquired.
  • Garment Grids: All Garment Grids you've obtained.
  • Accessories: All Accessories in your inventory.
  • Items: Most consumable and key items (excluding story-critical items).
  • Gil: Your current Gil total.
  • Creature Create Data: If you've played the International/HD Remaster versions, your Creature Create data will carry over, allowing you to re-recruit your favorite monsters and characters.
  • Story Completion Percentage: This is crucial for achieving the Perfect Ending. If you didn't reach 100% on your first run, New Game+ is the ideal way to do so without starting from scratch.

Strategy for 100% Completion: Use New Game+ to revisit areas and make different choices in conversations or mission outcomes to unlock previously missed Story Completion percentage points. Consult a comprehensive 100% completion guide to ensure you hit every trigger.

Via Infinito

The ultimate challenge for any Sphere Hunter, the Via Infinito is a 100-floor dungeon located beneath the Den of Woe in the Calm Lands. Each floor presents increasingly difficult enemies and unique challenges. Access to the Via Infinito is granted after completing the "Taming the Flame" mission in Chapter 5, where you defeat the fiend in the Den of Woe. However, its true purpose as a post-game gauntlet shines after the main story.

Accessing Via Infinito:

  1. Travel to the Calm Lands.
  2. Head to the Den of Woe, located in the northern part of the Calm Lands.
  3. Enter the Den of Woe and proceed to the deepest chamber where you fought the fiend. The entrance to Via Infinito will now be open.

Key Strategies & Rewards:

  • Preparation is Key: Ensure your party is at a high level (80+ recommended for the later floors), equipped with powerful Dresspheres (e.g., Mascot, Dark Knight, Alchemist), and robust accessories (e.g., Ragnarok, Adamantite, Ribbon).
  • Bosses: Every 20 floors, you'll encounter a powerful boss. These include familiar faces like Ultima Weapon and Omega Weapon, culminating in the superboss Trema on Floor 100.
  • Rare Items: The Via Infinito is a treasure trove of rare and powerful items. Expect to find ultimate accessories, powerful Garment Grids, and valuable consumables. Specific drops include the Ragnarok accessory (from Ultima Weapon) and the Adamantite (from Omega Weapon).
  • Trema (Floor 100): The final boss of Via Infinito, Trema, is arguably the toughest enemy in the game. He possesses immense HP, high defenses, and devastating attacks. Strategies often involve using abilities like "Mix" (Alchemist) for powerful combinations, "Darkness" (Dark Knight) for consistent damage, and "Ribbon" accessories to prevent status ailments. Consider using the Cat Nip accessory combined with low HP for critical hits, but be wary of Trema's counterattacks.
  • Reward for Defeating Trema: Upon defeating Trema, you'll receive the Iron Duke accessory, one of the most powerful items in the game, significantly boosting all stats.

Creature Create (International/HD Remaster Only)

For players of the International or HD Remaster versions, the Creature Create system offers extensive post-game content. This allows you to capture, train, and battle with a vast array of fiends and even certain NPCs from Spira.

How to Engage:

  1. Capture Pods: Obtain Capture Pods from various sources, including mission rewards and shops.
  2. Capture Fiends: Use Capture Pods in battle to capture eligible fiends. Different sized pods capture different types of creatures.
  3. Training: Level up your captured creatures through battles or by feeding them items. Each creature has a unique set of abilities and stats.
  4. Coliseum Battles: Participate in the Shinra's Creature Coliseum, located on the Celsius. Here, you can pit your trained creatures against others in various tournaments, earning rare items and experience.

Notable Creatures & Rewards:

  • Recruit NPCs: Certain NPCs, like Leblanc, Logos, and Ormi, can be recruited after specific story events or by meeting certain criteria. They bring unique abilities to your team.
  • Superbosses: The Creature Coliseum features its own set of superbosses, such as the Almighty Shinra, which provide an extreme challenge and offer some of the best rewards in the game, including the Enterprise Garment Grid.
  • Dressphere Unlocks: Some creatures, when released after reaching certain conditions, can unlock unique Dresspheres for Yuna, Rikku, and Paine. For example, releasing a fully trained Tonberry can unlock the Mascot Dressphere.

Episode Complete Status

Achieving "Episode Complete" for every region in Spira is a significant post-game endeavor, especially if you didn't manage it during your initial playthrough. This involves completing all available missions and side quests in each area. While not strictly "post-game" in terms of accessibility, ensuring all regions are marked "Episode Complete" is a common goal for players aiming for 100% story completion.

Checking Status:

Regularly check the Story Completion percentage on the Celsius's bridge. If a region doesn't show "Episode Complete," revisit it and look for any missed conversations, hidden items, or unresolved side quests. Consult a detailed Episode Complete guide for specific triggers in each location (e.g., Besaid, Kilika, Luca, Mi'ihen Highroad, Mushroom Rock Road, Djose, Moonflow, Macalania, Bikanel, Calm Lands, Gagazet, Zanarkand).

Collectibles and Secrets

  • Al Bhed Primers: If you missed any during your playthrough, hunt down the remaining Al Bhed Primers to fully understand the Al Bhed language. There are 26 in total.
  • Garment Grids & Accessories: Many powerful Garment Grids and accessories are hidden in obscure locations or are rewards for challenging side quests. Explore every nook and cranny of Spira.
  • Dresspheres: Ensure you've collected all 17 standard Dresspheres and any unique ones unlocked through Creature Create or specific side quests.
  • Hidden Bosses: Beyond the Via Infinito, some areas might still hold hidden fiends or optional bosses that offer unique challenges and rewards.

By engaging with these post-game activities, you'll truly master Final Fantasy X-2 and experience everything Spira has to offer beyond the main narrative.
