Equipment Lists & Auto-Abilities (FFX)
In Final Fantasy X, equipment plays a vital role in enhancing your party's combat capabilities. Weapons and armor come with various Auto-Abilities that provide passive bonuses, significantly impacting battle strategy and character development.
Each character can equip one weapon and one piece of armor. Weapons primarily boost Attack, Accuracy, and Critical Hit rates, while also offering unique Auto-Abilities. Armor, on the other hand, focuses on boosting Defense, Magic Defense, HP, and providing defensive Auto-Abilities.
The Auto-Abilities are the most crucial aspect of equipment customization. These abilities are learned and customized using the Customize feature at the Creation Spheres found in towns. By using specific items, you can add or change these abilities on your equipment, tailoring your party to specific challenges.
Common Weapon Auto-Abilities:
- Strength +X%: Increases physical attack power by a percentage.
- Magic +X%: Increases magic attack power by a percentage.
- Accuracy +X%: Increases the chance to hit enemies.
- Critical Hit: Increases the chance of landing critical hits.
- Piercing: ores a portion of enemy defense.
- One-Hit KO: Chance to instantly defeat an enemy (risky, as it can backfire).
Common Armor Auto-Abilities:
- HP +X%: Increases maximum HP by a percentage.
- Defense +X%: Increases physical defense by a percentage.
- Magic Defense +X%: Increases magic defense by a percentage.
- Ribbon: Grants immunity to most status ailments. Extremely valuable.
- Auto-Protect: Automatically casts Protect on the wearer at the start of battle.
- Auto-Haste: Automatically casts Haste on the wearer at the start of battle.
- Stoneproof: Grants immunity to the Petrify status.
- Confuseproof: Grants immunity to the Confusion status.
Customization Strategy:
The goal is often to create equipment sets that counter specific enemies or bosses. For example, against enemies that inflict status ailments, equipping armor with Ribbon or multiple status-proof abilities is essential. For powerful physical attackers, weapons with Strength +20% and armor with Auto-Haste and Auto-Protect are highly effective.
The Celestial Weapons, unique to each character, come with powerful innate abilities and break the damage limit, making them the ultimate goal for weapon customization. Similarly, armor with Ribbon and Auto-Protect/Auto-Haste is considered top-tier for general use.
Mastering the Customize system allows you to create equipment that perfectly suits your playstyle and overcomes even the most formidable foes in Spira.
