Playable Characters Overview

Final Fantasy X features a core cast of seven playable characters, each with unique backstories, combat roles, and growth paths on the Sphere Grid. Understanding their individual strengths and how they synergize is fundamental to building a balanced and effective party capable of overcoming any challenge Spira throws at you.

Tidus: The protagonist, a cheerful blitzball star from Zanarkand. Tidus is a balanced physical attacker, excelling in speed and agility. His Overdrive, Blitz Ace, is a powerful multi-hit attack. His Sphere Grid path focuses on physical prowess and speed.

• Role: Physical Attacker, Speedster.
• Strengths: High Speed, good Strength, versatile physical attacks.
• Weaknesses: Lacks strong magical capabilities.

Yuna: A kind and determined summoner destined to defeat Sin. While initially focused on summoning, Yuna can also learn powerful White Magic and some Black Magic. Her Aeons are powerful allies, and her Overdrive, Grand Summon, allows her to unleash their ultimate attacks.

• Role: Summoner, White Mage, Support.
• Strengths: Powerful Aeons, excellent healing and support magic.
• Weaknesses: Low physical stats, reliant on Aeons for direct damage.

Wakka: A guardian of the Besaid Aurochs blitzball team. Wakka is a physical attacker who uses Blitzballs as his weapon. He has access to support abilities and some elemental attacks, making him a versatile fighter.

• Role: Physical Attacker, Support.
• Strengths: Good Strength and Accuracy, useful status-inflicting attacks.
• Weaknesses: Slower than Tidus, limited magical utility.

Lulu: A stoic black mage from Kilika. Lulu specializes in powerful Black Magic, capable of dealing massive elemental damage to single targets or groups. Her Overdrive, Fury, unleashes a barrage of spells.

• Role: Black Mage, Magic Damage Dealer.
• Strengths: Highest Magic stat, powerful elemental spells.
• Weaknesses: Very low physical stats and speed, vulnerable to physical attacks.

Kimahri: A mysterious Ronso warrior. Kimahri is a jack-of-all-trades, with a Sphere Grid path that allows him to develop into a physical attacker, a magic user, or a support character. His Overdrive, Spirit Lance, is a potent single-target attack.

• Role: Versatile (Physical/Magical/Support).
• Strengths: Adaptable, can learn abilities from any path.
• Weaknesses: Lacks specialization without player intervention.

Auron: A stoic guardian from Spira's past. Auron is a slow but incredibly powerful physical attacker. His Katanas hit hard, and his Overdrive, Phantom Rush, is a devastating combo attack.

• Role: Heavy Physical Attacker, Tank.
• Strengths: Highest Strength and Defense, high HP.
• Weaknesses: Very slow, limited magical utility.

Rikku: A cheerful and agile Al Bhed girl. Rikku is the fastest character, excelling at using items and inflicting status effects with her daggers. Her Overdrive, UFO, allows her to use multiple items rapidly.

• Role: Item Specialist, Fast Attacker, Support.
• Strengths: Highest Agility, excellent item usage, good evasion.
• Weaknesses: Low Strength and HP, relies on items for damage.

Building a party that balances these roles—physical damage, magical damage, healing, and support—is key to success in Final Fantasy X.
