Saving & Loading Progress (FFX-2)

Learn how to save your game in Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster by visiting Rin's agencies and prepare for the Chocobo Eater boss fight using Fire tactics.

Saving & Loading Progress (FFX-2)

In Final Fantasy X-2, saving your progress is often tied to interacting with Rin at his travel agencies. These agencies are found throughout Spira and also offer useful items and information. Saving allows you to secure your progress before significant events, such as boss battles.

After leaving the travel agency, you will encounter Rin, an Al Bhed, who will provide you with the Al Bhed Primer Vol. VIII and two Mega-Potions. This interaction often precedes a boss fight, such as the Chocobo Eater.

Boss Battle: Chocobo Eater

The Chocobo Eater is a formidable opponent with 10,000 HP and a physical attack that deals 250-300 damage. It has a weakness to Fire and can be inflicted with Darkness. The battle takes place on a five-slot battlefield, where pushing the boss off the fifth slot or defeating it outright leads to victory. If you are pushed off the first slot, you gain no rewards and restart from the Oldroad.

The Chocobo Eater's attacks include:

  • Standard Attack: Deals 250-300 physical damage.
  • Fist of Fury: Preceded by "You're next!", this attack deals over 1,000 damage to a single target.
  • Blizzard: Ice-elemental damage to a single target.
  • Push Back: An area-of-effect attack that removes 18.75% of each character's current HP.

For strategy, Lulu should cast Fire due to the boss's elemental weakness. Wakka can use Dark Attack to inflict Darkness, reducing the boss's physical attack accuracy. Auron's Power Break will further reduce physical damage. Once Darkness and Power Break are applied, switch to Yuna and summon Valefor to use Fire, as Valefor's Fire spell is typically stronger.
