Omega Weapon

The legendary Omega Weapon returns as a coliseum opponent, offering a chance to recruit this iconic monster to your party. Be warned: this is not for the faint of heart!

How to Obtain

To challenge Omega Weapon, you must first purchase and download the "Opponent: Omega" DLC from your console's respective online store (PlayStation Store for PS3, Xbox Live Marketplace for Xbox 360). Once downloaded, Omega Weapon will appear as a new option in the Coliseum at the Academia (4XX AF) gate.

Requirements

  • Story Progression: You must have reached Academia (4XX AF) in the main story to access the Coliseum.
  • Party Strength: It is highly recommended that your party be maxed out or very close to max level (Level 99 for all roles) for both Noel and Serah. Your monster allies should also be fully developed with optimal passive abilities.
  • Paradigm Setup: A well-rounded set of Paradigms is crucial. Consider setups that include:
    • COM/RAV/RAV: For building the chain gauge quickly.
    • SEN/SEN/MED: For heavy damage mitigation and healing.
    • COM/COM/COM: For burst damage during Stagger.
    • SAB/SYN/MED: For debuffing Omega and buffing your party.

The Fight

Omega Weapon is a pure damage race. Its attacks are incredibly powerful, and it has a high resistance to most debuffs. Your primary goal is to stagger it as quickly as possible and unleash your strongest attacks.

  • Phase 1: Initial Assault
    • Omega will open with powerful physical attacks. Start with a defensive Paradigm like MED/SEN/SEN or SEN/SEN/MED to absorb the initial blows and apply buffs.
    • Immediately switch to RAV/RAV/COM or RAV/RAV/RAV to build its chain gauge. Focus on elemental weaknesses if you can identify them, though Omega's resistances are high.
  • Phase 2: Stagger and Damage
    • Once staggered, switch to COM/COM/COM or COM/COM/RAV to maximize damage. Use Feral Links from your monsters if they are available and powerful.
    • Be prepared for Omega to recover quickly. You'll need to re-stagger it multiple times.
  • Key Abilities:
    • Particle Beam: A devastating magical attack. Use a MED/SEN/SEN Paradigm to mitigate damage.
    • Wave Cannon: A powerful physical attack. Keep Protect/Shell active.
    • Enrage: As its HP drops, Omega will become more aggressive and hit harder. This is when your defensive Paradigms become absolutely vital.

How to Increase Your Chances

  • Potions and Elixirs: Stock up on high-tier healing items like Potions, Hi-Potions, and especially Elixirs for emergency full heals.
  • Auto-Abilities: Ensure your monsters have useful passive abilities like "Resist Physical +%" and "Resist Magic +%". "HP +%" is also highly beneficial.
  • Equipment: Equip accessories that boost HP, defense, and magic defense. The "Genji Glove" (if you have it) can be invaluable for breaking the damage limit.
  • Monster Selection: Consider monsters with high HP and defensive stats, or those with powerful Feral Links for burst damage. A strong Sentinel monster is almost mandatory.

Omega Character

Upon defeating Omega Weapon, there's a chance it will drop its Crystal, allowing you to recruit it as a monster ally. Omega is a powerful Commando with excellent stats and a unique Feral Link, making it a valuable addition to any party, especially for its raw damage output.

Lightning & Amodar

This DLC episode pits you against two formidable opponents: Lightning and Lieutenant Amodar. This battle is unique as it's a one-on-one duel against Lightning, followed by a tag-team match. Defeating them offers a chance to recruit Lightning to your monster roster.

How to Obtain

Purchase and download the "Opponent: Lightning & Amodar" DLC. Like Omega, they will appear as a new option in the Coliseum at Academia (4XX AF).

Requirements

  • Story Progression: Access to Academia (4XX AF) and the Coliseum.
  • Party Strength: Maxed out characters (Noel and Serah) are highly recommended. Lightning is one of the toughest monster recruits in the game.
  • Paradigm Setup: Focus on Paradigms that allow for quick role switching, especially between offensive and defensive stances.

Lightning Fight (First Phase)

The initial encounter is a one-on-one duel between Noel and Lightning. Serah and your monster will be unavailable. This phase tests your ability to adapt and manage Noel's resources.

  • Noel's Role: Noel will primarily act as a Commando and Ravager. Focus on building Lightning's chain gauge.
  • Lightning's Attacks: She uses several physical and magical attacks, including her signature "Army of One." Be prepared to heal frequently.
  • Strategy:
    • Start by buffing Noel with SYN abilities if available (e.g., from an Auto-Buff accessory).
    • Switch between RAV and COM to build the chain gauge and deal damage.
    • Use MED when your HP drops significantly. Don't be afraid to use Potions if necessary.
    • Focus on staggering Lightning. Once staggered, unleash Noel's most powerful attacks.
    • This phase requires patience and precise timing of role changes.

Lightning & Amodar Fight (Second Phase)

After the initial duel, Serah and your monster will join the fray, and you'll face both Lightning and Amodar simultaneously. This is a much more challenging battle.

  • Target Priority: It's generally advisable to focus on Amodar first. He has less HP and can be staggered more easily, removing a significant threat. Lightning is much more resilient.
  • Amodar's Abilities: He uses various gun attacks and can inflict status ailments.
  • Lightning's Abilities: She retains her powerful attacks from the first phase and will actively support Amodar.
  • Strategy:
    • Initial Setup: Start with a defensive Paradigm (SEN/MED/SEN or SEN/SEN/MED) to absorb initial damage and apply buffs.
    • Focus Amodar: Switch to RAV/RAV/COM or RAV/RAV/RAV to build Amodar's chain gauge. Once staggered, use COM/COM/COM to take him down quickly.
    • Healing and Buffs: Keep Protect, Shell, and Vigilance active on your party. Frequent healing from a dedicated Medic is essential.
    • Lightning's Pressure: Even while focusing on Amodar, Lightning will be a constant threat. Be ready to switch to defensive Paradigms to mitigate her attacks.
    • After Amodar: Once Amodar is defeated, the fight becomes a more manageable (though still difficult) battle against Lightning alone, similar to the first phase but with your full party.

Lightning Character

Defeating Lightning and Amodar offers a chance to recruit Lightning as a monster ally. Lightning is a powerful Commando with high stats and a unique Feral Link. She is considered one of the best monster recruits in the game due to her versatility and damage potential.
