Valhalla

Your adventure begins in the chaotic realm of Valhalla. This opening sequence serves as a tutorial for the game's combat mechanics and introduces you to Serah and Noel.

• Objective: Follow Lightning.
• Combat: Engage in several battles against various enemies. This is a good opportunity to familiarize yourself with the Paradigm Shift system. Experiment with different roles (Commando, Ravager, Medic, Sentinel, Synergist, Saboteur) and observe their effects.
• Key Mechanic: Pay attention to the Cinematic Action prompts during certain enemy encounters. Successfully executing these Quick Time Events will deal significant damage or provide other advantages.
• Boss Battle: You will face a formidable foe alongside Lightning. Focus on building up the Stagger gauge with Ravager roles, then unleash Commando attacks. heal with Medic when necessary.
• Aftermath: The events in Valhalla set the stage for Serah's quest.

New Bodhum [003 AF]

After the dramatic events in Valhalla, Serah finds herself back in her home, New Bodhum, but something is amiss. This is your first taste of the game's time travel mechanics.

Initial Exploration & Objectives

• Objective: Talk to the villagers and gather information.
• Key Item: Speak with Maqui to receive the Map of New Bodhum. This is crucial for navigation.
• Collectible: Keep an eye out for Treasure Spheres scattered around the village. These often contain useful items like Potions, Phoenix Downs, or Gil.
• Side Quest Introduction: You'll encounter various NPCs with speech bubbles above their heads. These indicate potential side quests or requests. While not mandatory for the main story, completing them can yield valuable rewards and expand the lore.
• First Paradox Anomaly: You'll soon discover a temporal anomaly causing disruptions. This will lead you to your next destination.

Encountering Noel

• Objective: Locate the source of the anomaly and meet the mysterious stranger.
• Path: Head towards the beach area. You'll witness a cinematic introducing Noel Kreiss.
• First Gate: Noel will explain the concept of Gates and how to activate them using Artefacts. You'll receive your first Artefact here.
• Preparation: Before activating the Gate, ensure your party is well-equipped. Consider purchasing some basic accessories from the local merchant if you have enough Gil.

Bresha Ruins [005 AF]

Your journey through time truly begins as you arrive in the Bresha Ruins. This area introduces more complex exploration and combat scenarios.

Navigating the Ruins

• Objective: Investigate the ruins and find clues about the paradox.
• Environmental Hazards: Be mindful of environmental hazards and blocked paths. Some areas may require specific actions or items to access.
• Monster Encounters: The Bresha Ruins are teeming with various monsters. Practice your Paradigm Shifts and try to capture new monsters to add to your party. Remember to use Feral Link abilities!
• Treasure Hunting: Explore every nook and cranny. You can find valuable items like Power Orbs and Magic Orbs for monster leveling, as well as more Gil and consumables. Look for glowing spots on the ground for hidden items.
• Key NPC: You'll encounter a character named Mog, who will become an invaluable companion, helping you find hidden items and navigate the timeline.

The Temporal Rift & Boss Battle

• Objective: Confront the anomaly at the heart of the ruins.
• Puzzle Element: You may encounter a minor puzzle or obstacle that requires you to interact with the environment or solve a simple riddle to proceed.
• Boss Battle Strategy: The boss in Bresha Ruins will test your understanding of the combat system.
• Paradigm Setup: A good starting setup includes Commando/Ravager/Medic (Cerberus), Ravager/Ravager/Medic (Relentless Assault), and Sentinel/Medic/Medic (Solidarity).
• Staggering: Focus on building the Stagger gauge quickly with Ravager attacks.
• Defense: When the boss prepares a powerful attack, switch to a defensive Paradigm (e.g., Sentinel/Medic/Medic) to mitigate damage.
• Feral Link: Utilize your monster's Feral Link ability when the boss is Staggered for maximum damage.
