The Adamantoise is an optional, super-boss level enemy found on Gran Pulse (Chapter 11 onwards). Defeating it is crucial for farming Gil and rare components. Recommended Party: Fang, Lightning, Vanille (or Hope). Weaknesses: None. Resistances: High resistance to all. Strategy: This fight is a marathon. The most common strategy involves using Vanille's Death spell (Saboteur). Equip her with the Belladonna Wand (or Malboro Wand) and accessories that boost Magic and debuff success rate (e.g., Tetradic Tiara, Magistral Crest). Start with Saboteur/Saboteur/Synergist (Vanille/Fang/Hope) to cast Deprotect, Deshell, and Imperil on its legs, and Haste/Bravery/Faith on your party. Then, switch to a Paradigm with Vanille as Saboteur and repeatedly cast Death on one of its legs. The success rate is low, but if it connects, the leg is instantly destroyed. Repeat for the other leg. Once both legs are destroyed, the Adamantoise falls, becoming staggered and highly vulnerable. Switch to Cerberus (Commando/Commando/Commando) or Relentless Assault (Commando/Ravager/Ravager) to deal massive damage to its head. Be prepared for its stomps and 'Ultima' attack; use a Sentinel to draw aggro and Medics to heal. This fight requires patience and luck with Death, or a very high-level party for a direct damage approach. Rewards: Platinum Ingot (sells for 150,000 Gil), Trapezohedron (rare upgrade component).
