Post-Game Unlockables

Congratulations, Cocoon L'Cie! While you've seen the credits roll, your journey through Gran Pulse and beyond is far from over. Final Fantasy XIII offers a wealth of content and challenges for dedicated players in the post-game. This section will guide you through unlocking powerful new abilities, accessing hidden areas, and ultimately, preparing your party for the toughest foes the game has to offer.

Crystarium Expansion: Stage 10 Unlocked

Upon completing the main story, the final stage of the Crystarium, Stage 10, becomes available for all characters. This is crucial for maximizing your party's stats and unlocking their ultimate abilities. Here's how to make the most of it:

  • Access: Simply open the Crystarium menu after saving your clear data.
  • CP Farming: The best locations for efficient CP farming include:
    • Eden - Orphan's Cradle: Re-fighting the final bosses (Orphan, Barthandelus) can yield significant CP, especially if you can achieve 5-star ratings.
    • Gran Pulse - Taejin's Tower: The upper floors, particularly the 6th and 7th, are excellent for battling powerful enemies like the Adamantoise and Adamantortoise for large CP gains.
    • Gran Pulse - Archylte Steppe (Rainy Season): During the rainy season, the Steppe is teeming with stronger versions of enemies, offering more CP per battle.
  • Key Abilities: Prioritize unlocking the following for each character:
    • Commando: Army of One (Lightning), Highwind (Fang), Last Resort (Sazh), Smite (Snow), Scourge (Hope), Death (Vanille).
    • Ravager: Thundaga/Firaga/Blizzaga/Aeroga (all characters).
    • Medic: Curaga/Raise (all characters).
    • Synergist: Haste/Faith/Bravery/Protect/Shell (all characters).
    • Saboteur: Imperil/Dispelga/Slowga/Poison (all characters).
    • Sentinel: Provoke/Challenge/Mediguard (all characters).

Mission 55: The Ultimate Challenge

The true post-game begins with accessing and completing the infamous Mission 55: "Titan's Bane." This mission pits you against the legendary Adamantoise, a colossal beast that drops valuable items and is essential for unlocking further content.

  1. Location: Head to the Archylte Steppe - Central Expanse. The Cie'th Stone for Mission 55 is located near the large, open area where you first encountered the Adamantoise during the main story.
  2. Strategy (Early Post-Game):
    • Paradigm: Start with a Saboteur/Saboteur/Synergist (e.g., Vanille/Fang/Sazh) to inflict status ailments (Poison, Slow, Deprotect, Deshell) and buff your party (Haste, Bravery, Faith).
    • Summon: Use Vanille's Eidolon, Hecatoncheir, to instantly topple the Adamantoise by entering Gestalt Mode immediately after summoning. This will buy you precious time to deal damage.
    • Damage Phase: Switch to a Commando/Ravager/Ravager or Commando/Commando/Ravager paradigm (e.g., Lightning/Fang/Hope) to maximize damage while the Adamantoise is down.
    • Repeat: The fight will likely involve multiple summons and careful management of buffs and debuffs.
  3. Rewards: Completing Mission 55 rewards you with a Genji Glove, an accessory that removes the 99,999 damage cap, allowing your characters to deal truly astronomical damage. You'll also receive a significant amount of CP and Gil.

Unlocking the Adamantortoise and Adamantaimai

Defeating the Adamantoise in Mission 55 is the key to unlocking its more powerful brethren:

  • Adamantortoise: These larger, tougher versions of the Adamantoise appear in Gran Pulse - Taejin's Tower (6th and 7th floors) and occasionally in the Archylte Steppe. They drop Trapezohedrons (rare) and Platinum Ingots (common), vital for weapon upgrading.
  • Adamantaimai: The strongest of the trio, these beasts are found in Gran Pulse - Eden - Orphan's Cradle. They also drop Trapezohedrons and Platinum Ingots, but with a slightly higher chance for the former.
  • Farming Strategy: The same general strategy for Mission 55 applies, but with fully developed Crystariums and upgraded weapons, you can often take them down without relying on Eidolons, especially with a well-timed Death spell from Vanille (requires high Magic stat and Saboteur role level).

The Ultima Weapon and Omega Weapon

To truly dominate the post-game, you'll want to forge the ultimate weapons for your party:

  1. Tier 2 Weapons: Max out your character's base weapon (Tier 1) using various components. For example, Lightning's Blazefire Saber upgrades to Axis Blade.
  2. Catalyst: Use a specific catalyst item to transform the maxed-out Tier 2 weapon into its Tier 3 form. For example, the Adamantite transforms the Axis Blade into the Lionheart.
  3. Trapezohedron: To upgrade a Tier 3 weapon to its ultimate form (e.g., Lionheart to Ultima Weapon), you will need a Trapezohedron. These are rare drops from Adamantoises, Adamantortoises, and Adamantaimai. You can also purchase them for 2,000,000 Gil each from the Eden - Sanctum shop after completing Mission 64.
  4. Omega Weapon: Once a character's ultimate weapon is fully upgraded (e.g., Ultima Weapon ★), it transforms into its final, most powerful form, the Omega Weapon. This requires a significant investment of Gil and components.

Missions 56-64: The Circle of Challenges

After completing Mission 55, a new set of Cie'th Stones will appear across Gran Pulse, leading to increasingly difficult missions. These missions often involve battling multiple powerful enemies, including the various Adamantoise types and other formidable foes. Completing these missions will:

  • Unlock New Shops: Certain missions unlock new items in existing shops or entirely new vendors. For example, completing Mission 64 unlocks the ability to purchase Trapezohedrons from the Eden - Sanctum shop.
  • Grant Rare Accessories: Many missions reward unique and powerful accessories, such as the Growth Egg (doubles CP earned) from Mission 54, which is highly recommended for efficient Crystarium leveling.
  • Provide Valuable Components: Expect to earn a plethora of rare components for weapon and accessory upgrading.

Focus on completing these missions in numerical order as they generally scale in difficulty. Be prepared with fully upgraded gear and a diverse set of paradigms.
