This system enables players to create highly specialized and powerful units by combining the best skills from two parent units. When two units of opposite genders support each other to a certain level, they can have a child unit. This child unit will inherit a set of skills, typically including one personal skill from each parent (if they have them) and one or two skills learned from their parents' class lines. The specific skills inherited depend on the parents' classes and the skills they have learned. For example, if Robin (a Mage) and Chrom (a Lord) have a child, that child might inherit Robin's "Tomefaire" and Chrom's "Rightful King," along with other class-specific skills.

The strategic inheritance of skills is key to creating dominant armies. carefully consider which pairings will result in the most advantageous skill combinations for their child units. For instance, pairing a unit with the "Armsthrift" skill with another unit that has strong offensive skills can create a child unit that is both durable and deadly.
