Elise (Chapter 26)
Princess Elise of Nohr, a healer and a surprisingly potent offensive magic user, appears as a boss in Chapter 26 of Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright. While primarily known for her healing capabilities, Elise, as a Strategist or a similar advanced class, can wield powerful offensive spells, making her a dual threat. Her high Resistance and decent Magic stats allow her to deal significant damage, while her healing abilities can sustain herself and nearby allies, making her a persistent problem. Players must carefully consider their approach to neutralize her threat without suffering excessive casualties. Units with high physical defense are generally recommended to tank her magical assaults, as her physical defense is typically lower. However, her offensive magic can still be potent, so it's important to have units that can either withstand her attacks or eliminate her quickly. The map layout in Chapter 26 often presents opportunities for flanking or strategic positioning, which can be exploited to isolate Elise and prevent her from utilizing her healing abilities effectively. Bringing units with high movement can be advantageous for quickly closing the distance and engaging her before she can fully support her allies.
To defeat Elise, focus on exploiting her lower physical defense while being wary of her offensive magic and healing capabilities. Units that excel in physical combat, such as Knights, Fighters, or Swordmasters, can be very effective. If you have access to weapons that grant bonus damage against magic users or have skills that increase critical hit rates, these can significantly speed up the process of defeating her. Consider using units with the "Armored Blow" skill to further bolster their physical defense when initiating an attack, allowing them to survive her initial magical onslaught. Alternatively, fast units that can double-attack her before she can retaliate or heal are also a viable strategy. Be mindful of her healing staff; if she is positioned near other injured allies, she will prioritize healing them, which can prolong the battle. Therefore, isolating her or eliminating her allies quickly can prevent her from using her healing effectively. If you have units with the "Rally Resistance" skill, it can provide a crucial boost to your magic-vulnerable units, making them more capable of surviving her attacks. Bringing along a few Vulneraries for your front-line units can also help sustain them through the battle.
