Recruiting All Units: A Comprehensive Guide
In Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright, the process of recruiting new units is a cornerstone of building a formidable army. Most characters join your cause automatically through story progression, appearing on the battlefield at specific points in the narrative. For instance, Silas, a loyal knight from Nohr, joins your ranks early in the game after a pivotal encounter. However, some units can be recruited through specific actions or by visiting other players' Castles. The Dragon's Gate feature is instrumental here. By visiting another player's Castle, you can challenge their army. If you defeat the enemy units in their Castle, you have a chance to recruit them to your own army. This mechanic is particularly useful for acquiring units that might not be available through the main story or for obtaining duplicates of powerful characters. The success rate of recruitment can sometimes depend on the Lord's (your character's) stats or specific skills. Certain characters, like the Nohrian twins, Reina and Kaze, join your side during specific story chapters, and missing their recruitment window might mean they are lost permanently. Pay close attention to dialogue and map objectives, as they often hint at impending recruitment opportunities. For example, if an enemy unit has a dialogue box indicating loyalty to your cause, they are likely recruitable. Always ensure you have an open unit slot before attempting to recruit a new character, as you cannot recruit if your army is at its maximum capacity. Some characters may also have specific recruitment conditions tied to their support levels or the presence of other units on the battlefield. For example, if you have a high support level with a particular character, their allies might be more inclined to join you.
