Arthur Build Guide

Arthur, the jovial and somewhat clumsy Nohrian villager, brings a unique blend of potential and unpredictability to your Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest roster. As a Fighter, his initial strengths lie in his decent Strength and HP, but his defining characteristic is his exceptionally high Luck stat, which influences the activation of his personal skill, Good Fortune, granting him a chance to negate critical hits. Building Arthur effectively means leaning into his strengths while mitigating his weaknesses.

Arthur's starting class, Fighter, provides access to axes and a good base for physical combat. His early game can be a bit shaky due to his lower Skill and Speed, which can lead to missed attacks and being doubled by faster enemies. However, his high Luck can sometimes save him from critical hits that would otherwise be fatal. It's crucial to protect Arthur in the early chapters, perhaps by pairing him with a more defensive unit or by utilizing terrain to his advantage. His ability to gain Rally Strength from the Berserker class later on makes him a valuable support unit in addition to his combat role.

Upon reaching level 10 as a Fighter, Arthur can promote into a Berserker or a Hero. The Berserker class is a pure offensive powerhouse, boasting extremely high critical hit rates and Strength, making Arthur a devastating damage dealer. The Hero class offers a more balanced approach, granting access to swords and axes, along with the Aegis skill, which provides a chance to halve damage from bows and tomes. For a build focused on maximizing Arthur's offensive potential and critical hits, Berserker is the ideal choice. The Hero class can be useful if you want to shore up his defensive capabilities against magic.

When considering reclassing, Arthur can benefit from the Samurai class for the Swordmaster promotion, which grants access to the incredibly powerful Rengoku skill, increasing critical hit damage. Alternatively, the Knight class for the Luna skill can help him overcome high-defense enemies. Stat-boosting items like the Hero Proof to promote him early or the Speedwing to help him avoid being doubled can be invaluable. While Arthur's low Skill can be frustrating, focusing on his Luck and Strength, and pairing him with units that can provide accuracy buffs or cover his defensive shortcomings, will allow him to become a surprisingly potent force in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest.
