Effie, the formidable knight of Nohr, is a cornerstone of any Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest army. Her exceptional Strength and Defense stats make her an unparalleled physical tank and a potent offensive force, capable of one-shotting many early-game enemies. Building Effie revolves around maximizing her offensive potential and ensuring she can withstand enemy assaults while delivering devastating blows.
Effie begins as an Armored Knight, a class known for its high defensive stats and slow movement. Her personal skill, Inspiration, grants adjacent allies a +2 bonus to Strength and Magic, making her a valuable unit not just for combat but also for buffing nearby allies. In the early chapters, her high base stats allow her to effectively tank hits from units like the various Faceless and even some of the early Nohrian soldiers. Her ability to wield lances makes her effective against flying units and other lance-wielding enemies.
Upon reaching level 10 as an Armored Knight, Effie can promote into a General or a Great Knight. The General class further enhances her already impressive defensive capabilities, making her nearly impervious to physical damage. It also grants access to axes, providing a new weapon triangle advantage. The Great Knight class offers a more balanced approach, granting access to swords and lances, along with increased movement and the ability to use the powerful Rally Defense skill. For a pure tank build, General is the superior choice, while Great Knight offers more versatility.
When considering reclassing, Effie can benefit greatly from the Knight class for the Luna skill, which ores a portion of the enemy's defense, or the Wyvern Rider class for access to the Rally Strength skill and the potent wyvern-slaying capabilities. Stat-boosting items such as the Power Belt to further increase her Strength and the Barrier Knife to bolster her Resistance can make her even more formidable. While her Resistance is typically low, pairing her with a unit that can provide magical support or using defensive tiles on the map can mitigate this weakness. Her high HP pool ensures she can endure sustained attacks, making her a reliable front-liner throughout the entirety of Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest.
