Jakob Build Guide

Jakob, the devoted butler and retainer to the Nohrian royal family, is a versatile unit in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest. His personal skill, "Devotion," grants him +2 to all stats when adjacent to the Avatar (Corrin), making him an invaluable companion throughout the campaign. Jakob's base stats are well-rounded, with a solid starting Strength of 10 and Skill of 11. His base Speed is 12, allowing him to double attack many early-game enemies. When building Jakob, consider his promotion options carefully. As a Paladin, he gains access to lances and swords, along with the "Canto" ability, allowing him to move again after attacking. This makes him exceptionally mobile and capable of engaging and disengaging from threats. Alternatively, promoting him to a Great Knight offers higher Defense and access to axes, making him a more durable frontline unit. His growth rates are generally balanced, with a notable emphasis on Speed (50%) and Skill (45%). To further enhance his combat effectiveness, equip him with the "Brave Sword", which allows him to attack twice regardless of his Speed, or the "Silver Lance" for consistent damage output. His personal skill, "Devotion," means he excels when paired with Corrin, so keep them in close proximity during battles. A common pitfall is neglecting his Speed; while he has decent base Speed, investing in it through stat-boosting items like the "Speedwing" will ensure he can consistently double attack and avoid being doubled himself. Jakob's ability to use both swords and lances (and axes as a Great Knight) makes him adaptable to various enemy types, from heavily armored Knights to swift Pegasus Knights.
