Nyx Build Guide
Nyx, a Sorceress in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest, is a glass cannon unit with exceptionally high Magic and Resistance, but conversely, very low HP and Defense. Her personal skill, Dopey, grants her +4 to her offensive stats (Magic, Skill, Speed) when her HP is below 50%, making her a high-risk, high-reward character. Building Nyx effectively means maximizing her offensive potential while mitigating her fragility.
For weapon choices, the Dark Tome is her sature weapon and a strong early-game option, offering good damage and a unique debuff. As she progresses, the Ryoma's Katana (if obtainable through amiibo or other means) can be a surprisingly effective choice due to its high might and critical bonus, though it is a physical weapon. More conventionally, the Bolt Tome offers excellent range and power, allowing her to strike from a safe distance. The Leo's Tome, a powerful magical weapon, is also a great choice if available. Her low physical defense means she should avoid engaging with physical attackers like Odin or Laslow directly.
When promoting Nyx, the Dark Knight class is a highly recommended path. This promotion grants her access to lances in addition to tomes, providing more combat flexibility. It also boosts her Speed and Defense, helping to shore up her weaknesses. The Strategist class is another viable option, offering increased movement and access to staves, which can be useful for support. However, the Dark Knight's offensive focus and improved survivability often make it the preferred choice for Nyx. Her support options are critical; pairing her with units that can draw enemy aggro, such as Effie or Gunter, is essential for her survival.
A common pitfall when using Nyx is overextending her. Her low HP means she can be defeated in a single hit from many enemies, especially on higher difficulties or in challenging maps like Chapter 11, "The King's Gambit." Always consider her positioning carefully and ensure she has an escape route or is protected by adjacent allies. Investing in stat-boosting items like the Spirit Dust can help increase her Resistance, making her more resilient against magical threats. Her Dopey skill can be a double-edged sword; while it boosts her offense, it also makes her more vulnerable, so use it strategically when you are confident she can survive the retaliation.
