Selena Build Guide
Selena, a Swordmaster in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest, excels at high-speed, critical-hit focused combat. Her personal skill, Charm, grants adjacent allies +2 to their Hit rate, making her a valuable support unit in addition to her offensive capabilities. When building Selena, prioritize increasing her Speed and Skill stats to maximize her dual-strike potential and critical hit chance. Her base stats lean towards these areas, but further investment is crucial for her to reach her full potential.
For weapon choices, the Silver Katana is an excellent early-to-mid game option, offering a good balance of power and hit. As she progresses, consider the Brave Sword for its ability to attack twice, synergizing perfectly with her high Speed. If you're aiming for pure critical damage, the Killer Katana can be devastating when paired with her naturally high Skill. Remember that Swordmasters have a weapon triangle disadvantage against axes, so positioning Selena carefully against axe-wielding foes like those found in Chapter 10, "The Dragon's Gate," is paramount.
Class promotion options for Selena include the Master Ninja or the Bow Knight. The Master Ninja path further enhances her Speed and Skill, granting access to the Shuriken weapon type and the potent Lethality skill. The Bow Knight path offers increased mobility and ranged options, but may dilute her focus on close-quarters sword combat. Given her strengths, the Master Ninja path is generally recommended for maximizing her offensive output. Her support options are also vital; pairing her with units like Xander can provide significant defensive buffs, allowing her to engage more aggressively.
A common mistake when building Selena is neglecting her defensive stats. While she is a fast unit, she can still be vulnerable to strong magical attacks or focused physical assaults. Ensure she has at least a moderate level of Defense and Resistance through stat-ups or support bonuses to prevent her from being a liability. Her personal skill, Charm, also means she should ideally be positioned adjacent to other offensive units to maximize their hit rates, making her a key player in coordinated attacks.
