Fighter & Berserker/Hero
The Fighter class in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest is a frontline powerhouse that thrives on raw physical strength and aggression. These units wield axes, the most powerful weapon type in terms of raw damage, making them excellent at breaking through enemy defenses and dealing significant damage to heavily armored foes. Their high Strength growth rates ensure they can consistently output high damage numbers. Fighters are often the first to engage in melee combat, and their innate skill, Rally Strength, can provide a temporary boost to the Strength of nearby allies, making them valuable for supporting offensive pushes. On maps like Chapter 10, where numerous armored units are present, Fighters can quickly carve a path through the opposition.
Upon promotion, Fighters can evolve into either Berserkers or Heroes. The Berserker class is the epitome of raw, unbridled offensive power. They gain access to axes exclusively but boast incredibly high critical hit rates, often leading to devastating critical hits that can instantly defeat even strong enemies. Their high Strength and critical focus make them excellent for quickly eliminating high-priority targets or clearing out groups of weaker enemies. The Hero class, on the other hand, offers a more balanced approach, gaining proficiency with swords in addition to axes. This dual weapon mastery makes Heroes incredibly versatile, capable of adapting to various enemy types and combat situations. Heroes also possess the Sol skill, which heals them for a portion of the damage they deal, enhancing their survivability in prolonged engagements.
When developing Fighters, prioritize maximizing their Strength and Skill to ensure consistent damage output and a higher chance of critical hits. Their Speed can be a weakness, making them vulnerable to being doubled by faster enemies. Therefore, it's often beneficial to pair them with units that can provide defensive support or debuff enemy Speed. Consider using a Second Seal to reclass a Fighter into an Archer for increased range and a different damage type, or into a Cavalier to gain mounted mobility and access to lances, before returning them to their advanced class to round out their stats. This allows for a more adaptable and resilient unit.
