Resource Management (Food, Ore, Gems)
Effective management of your resources is a cornerstone of success in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest. The primary resources you'll be dealing with are Food, Ore, and Gems, each playing a distinct role in your My Castle operations and overall campaign strength. Food is primarily generated by the Farm and is essential for cooking meals in the Kitchen. These meals can provide temporary stat boosts to your units, such as increased Strength or Defense, making them invaluable for tackling challenging enemy formations. For instance, a well-cooked meal might grant a +4 Strength bonus, allowing a unit to defeat an enemy that would otherwise survive with a sliver of HP. Food is also consumed in certain My Castle interactions and can be traded for other benefits. Neglecting your Food production can leave you without these crucial buffs when you need them most.
Ore and Gems are rarer resources, typically acquired through specific buildings, random encounters, or by visiting other players' Castles. Ore is primarily used for crafting and upgrading weapons and armor in the Armory and Tool Shop. For example, a certain amount of Ore might be required to forge a Silver Lance or to enhance the defensive capabilities of a Knight's armor. Gems are even more valuable and are often used for constructing or upgrading high-tier buildings, such as the Dragon Gate or the Arena. They can also be used to purchase rare items or to recruit powerful units. The scarcity of these resources means that careful planning is necessary. Players must decide whether to invest in structures that generate these resources, seek them out through exploration and interaction, or prioritize their use in crafting and building. Mismanaging these resources can lead to a lack of essential equipment or the inability to access powerful units, hindering your progress through the difficult maps of Conquest. For example, running out of Ore might prevent you from forging a needed Levin Sword, leaving a magic-reliant unit vulnerable.
