Outlaw & Adventurer/Bow Knight
The Outlaw class in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest offers a unique blend of ranged combat and mobility, serving as a valuable asset for players who prefer a tactical approach to engagement. Outlaws primarily wield bows, allowing them to engage enemies from a distance and avoid direct confrontation. Their innate skill, Pass, enables them to move through enemy units, which can be incredibly useful for bypassing heavily guarded areas or reaching objectives quickly. This skill is particularly potent on maps with tight corridors or dense enemy formations, allowing an Outlaw to slip through and secure a key location or eliminate a priority target without being blocked.
Upon promotion, Outlaws can evolve into either Adventurers or Bow Knights. The Adventurer class retains their bow proficiency and gains access to staves, making them a hybrid support and offensive unit. This allows them to both attack from range and provide healing or utility to their allies, offering significant tactical flexibility. They can engage enemies from afar and then use a staff to mend wounds or apply beneficial status effects. The Bow Knight class, as previously discussed, transitions into a mounted archer, combining the ranged power of bows with the superior mobility of a cavalry unit. Bow Knights are excellent for hit-and-run tactics, quickly repositioning to exploit enemy weaknesses or escape dangerous situations. Their Rally Speed skill can also be used to bolster the offensive capabilities of nearby allies, making them a valuable support unit in addition to their combat prowess.
When developing Outlaws, prioritize their Speed and Skill to ensure they can reliably hit their targets and avoid being doubled by faster enemies. Their Strength is also important for maximizing damage output with bows. Their Defense and Resistance are generally lower, making them vulnerable to direct attacks. Therefore, it's crucial to keep them positioned safely behind more durable units or to utilize their mobility and Pass skill to avoid unnecessary engagement. Consider using a Second Seal to reclass an Outlaw into a Fighter for a more direct offensive approach with axes, or into a Pegasus Knight for flight and increased Resistance, before returning them to their advanced class to refine their stat distribution and capitalize on their strengths.
