Chapter 26: The Last Stand
Chapter 26, "The Last Stand," presents a formidable challenge in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest, demanding meticulous planning and execution. The objective is to defend the desated area against waves of Nohrian soldiers, including powerful units like the Berserker and Great Knight. Your primary goal is to survive for a set number of turns, typically 15, while preventing any of your units from falling. The map features a chokepoint near the center, making it ideal for setting up a defensive line. Units with high Defense and Resistance, such as the General or a well-supported Knight, will be crucial here. Consider utilizing skills like Pavise to mitigate damage from critical hits. The enemy deploys a mix of melee and ranged attackers, so ensure you have units capable of countering both. Archers and mages should be positioned behind your frontline to pick off threats without being exposed. Pay close attention to enemy reinforcements, which can appear from the north and east edges of the map. A common mistake is to overextend your units, leaving them vulnerable to flanking attacks. Keep your units grouped, but not so close that they are susceptible to area-of-effect attacks from enemy mages. The Bolt Axe, wielded by some of the enemy axe-users, has a range of 1-2, making it a threat to even your backline if not properly accounted for. Prioritize eliminating these threats early in the engagement. If you have access to the Rescue command, use it to pull back weakened units or reposition key defenders. The chapter's difficulty scales with your current level, so ensure your units are appropriately trained before attempting this mission.
