Kagero, a skilled ninja and retainer to the Hoshidan princess Sakura, is a potent offensive unit specializing in swift, high-damage attacks with daggers and bows. Her personal skill, "Ambitious and Bold," grants her a bonus to her critical hit rate when attacking enemies with higher HP than her, making her particularly effective against tougher foes. When building Kagero, the focus should be on maximizing her Strength and Skill. Her natural growth in these stats allows her to deal devastating damage, especially with critical hits. Her high Skill also ensures that her attacks are accurate and that she can reliably activate skills that depend on hit rate.
For class promotion, the Master Ninja class is the ideal choice for Kagero. This class enhances her existing strengths by providing access to shuriken and sword weapons, in addition to her native daggers and bows. The Master Ninja class also boasts excellent Speed and Skill growth rates, further amplifying Kagero's offensive capabilities. This allows her to double-attack many enemies and consistently land critical hits. When equipping Kagero, prioritize weapons that boost her critical hit rate or her Strength. A Killer Dagger, for instance, significantly increases her critical hit chance, synergizing perfectly with her personal skill and the Master Ninja class's inherent critical bonuses. Alternatively, a powerful bow like a Silver Bow can be effective for engaging enemies from a safe distance before closing in for melee combat.
Kagero's support options should aim to either enhance her offensive power or provide her with defensive utility, as she can be somewhat fragile. Pairing her with units that can provide stat buffs, particularly to Strength or Skill, can further increase her damage output. Her personal skill, "Ambitious and Bold," is most effective when she is targeting enemies that are at full or near-full health, so initiating combat against such targets is generally recommended. In chapters where enemies possess high Defense, Kagero's ability to land critical hits becomes even more valuable, as critical damage bypasses a portion of the enemy's defensive stats. Her high Speed also allows her to avoid many attacks, but be mindful of her lower Resistance when facing powerful magic users.
