Xander, the eldest prince of Nohr and wielder of the Siegfried sword, is a cornerstone of the Nohrian forces in Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation. His exceptional Strength and Defense stats make him a formidable physical attacker and a resilient defender, capable of weathering heavy blows and dishing out significant damage in return. His personal skill, "Paragon," grants him bonus experience points when he defeats an enemy, allowing him to level up more rapidly and reach his full potential faster than many other units. This makes him an excellent candidate for early investment and consistent deployment throughout the campaign.
When building Xander, the primary focus should be on further enhancing his already impressive Strength and Defense. While his Speed is not his highest stat, investing in it can help him avoid some attacks and potentially double-attack slower enemies. However, his true strength lies in his ability to absorb hits and retaliate with overwhelming force. For class promotion, Xander has two excellent options: Great Lord or Paladin. The Great Lord class offers access to powerful swords and increased offensive stats, making him an even more potent damage dealer. The Paladin class provides increased mobility and access to lances, offering more tactical flexibility. Regardless of the chosen promotion, equipping Xander with his sature Siegfried sword is paramount, as it boasts high might and unique properties. If Siegfried is unavailable or being saved for specific situations, a Brave Sword can allow him to attack twice, capitalizing on his high Strength for massive damage output against enemies he can outspeed.
Xander's support options should ideally complement his role as a frontline combatant. Pairing him with units that can provide defensive buffs, such as increased Resistance or HP, can make him nearly unkillable. Units that can draw enemy aggro or provide healing are also valuable allies. His personal skill, "Paragon," means that even if he is not the primary damage dealer in every engagement, he will still gain valuable experience, ensuring he remains a powerful asset. In chapters featuring numerous physical attackers, Xander can often single-handedly hold a chokepoint, absorbing enemy attacks while his allies focus on other threats. be mindful of his lower Resistance when facing powerful magic users, and ensure he is either supported by a magic-resistant unit or kept at a safe distance from such threats. His ability to cleave through enemy ranks with his powerful attacks makes him a reliable choice for overcoming even the most challenging encounters.
