Combat in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is a turn-based affair where positioning, unit matchups, and careful planning are paramount. Each turn, you'll select a unit, move it across the grid-based battlefield, and then choose an action, most commonly attacking an adjacent enemy. The effectiveness of your attacks is determined by several factors, including the Weapon Triangle, unit stats, terrain, and any support bonuses from nearby allies. Understanding these elements is the foundation of successful combat. Always consider the range of your units and the enemies they can engage, as well as the potential counter-attacks they might face.
Strategic deployment is key. Place your stronger, more durable units on the front lines to absorb damage, while your ranged attackers and magic users should be positioned behind them to deal damage safely. use terrain to your advantage; forests can provide defensive bonuses, while forts offer healing and increased defense. Pay close attention to enemy unit types and their positions. Avoid sending a lance-wielding unit into a group of axe-wielding enemies if possible, and try to isolate weaker units for quick elimination. Remember that every unit has a role to play, and coordinating their actions will lead to victory.
