How to Recruit All Optional Characters
Recruiting every potential ally in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is crucial for maximizing your army's strength and unlocking unique story elements. While many characters join automatically through the main story, several are considered optional and require specific actions to bring them into your fold.
The most common method for recruiting optional characters is through specific dialogue interactions on the battlefield. When you encounter a green-named enemy unit (indicating they are not hostile and can be recruited), you must have a desated "Lord" character, typically Corrin, speak to them. This often triggers a conversation, and if certain conditions are met (such as the character not being defeated), they will join your army after the chapter concludes.
Some characters have more complex recruitment requirements. For instance, certain characters might only be recruitable if a specific allied unit is still alive by the end of a chapter, or if they are not attacked by any enemy units. Always check the chapter's objectives and enemy placements carefully before engaging.
Another method involves specific chapter events or choices. In some instances, a character might join your army based on a decision you make during a cutscene or a particular action taken on the map. For example, saving a specific village or protecting a certain NPC might lead to their allegiance.
Pay close attention to character dialogue during battles. Sometimes, hints about recruitment conditions are subtly woven into conversations between units. If a character expresses doubt about their current allegiance or mentions a desire for a different path, it's a strong indicator that they might be a potential recruit.
Finally, be aware of "Paralogue" chapters. These are optional side missions that often unlock unique characters or powerful items. Completing these chapters, and fulfilling any specific recruitment criteria within them, is essential for obtaining the full roster.
Always consult a detailed walkthrough if you're unsure about a specific character's recruitment. Missing even one can mean missing out on valuable skills, stat bonuses, and unique support conversations.
