The relationships between characters are a cornerstone of the Fire Emblem experience, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses elevates this with its robust Support system. High Support levels unlock unique conversations, providing deeper insights into character backstories, motivations, and personal lives. This guide outlines how to effectively build Support and what benefits they offer.

Support points are earned through various interactions during the Academy Phase and the War Phase. These include:

• Battles: Units fighting near each other gain Support.
• Shared Activities: Engaging in activities like training, choir practice, or meals together.
• Gifts: Giving characters gifts they like significantly boosts Support.
• Lost Items: Returning lost items to their owners.
• Tea Parties: Successfully hosting a tea party with a character.
• Battalion Training: Training together in the Training Ground.

Support levels are categorized into ranks: C, B, A, and A+. Rank C is typically achieved through initial interactions, while B and A require consistent engagement. Rank A+ is reserved for Byleth's support with their students and is often tied to recruitment or specific story events.

The benefits of high Support levels are numerous:

• Support Conversations: These unlock at specific Support ranks (C, B, A) and reveal character depth.
• Combat Bonuses: Adjacent units with high Support gain stat bonuses when fighting together, increasing hit rate, avoid, critical hit rate, and damage.
• Paired Endings: Achieving Rank A with certain characters can lead to unique paired endings after the main story concludes.

Support is generally not reciprocal between students of different houses during the Academy Phase, unless one character is recruited to Byleth's house. However, Byleth can build Support with any student regardless of their house affiliation.

Maximizing Support requires strategic use of Free Time activities. Prioritize characters you wish to recruit or whose conversations you find most engaging. Pay attention to character preferences for gifts and tea parties to maximize the efficiency of your interactions.
