Certifications: Unlocking Your Units' Potential
Certifications are the cornerstone of character progression in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. By passing certification exams, your units can unlock new classes, gaining access to powerful new abilities, stat boosts, and weapon proficiencies. Mastering the certification system is crucial for building a formidable army capable of overcoming any challenge on the battlefield.
To certify a unit, you'll need to acquire the appropriate Seal. There are three types of Seals: Intermediate, Advanced, and Master. Each Seal has specific stat and skill requirements that a unit must meet before they can attempt the certification exam. For example, to become a Mercenary (Intermediate), a unit typically needs a certain level and proficiency in Swords and/or Brawling. Advanced classes like Swordmaster require higher stats and often a specific Intermediate class as a prerequisite. Master classes, the pinnacle of progression, demand significant investment in stats, skills, and sometimes even specific Advanced classes.
The certification process itself is a mini-game. When you attempt an exam, you'll be presented with a series of questions or scenarios related to the class you're trying to achieve. Answering correctly increases your success rate. Failing an exam doesn't permanently hinder your unit; you can simply try again later after further training. However, it's wise to prepare your units by focusing on their training in the relevant weapon types and skills. For instance, if you aim for a Wyvern Lord, prioritize training in Flying and Lances, and ensure your unit meets the high Dexterity and Strength requirements.
The rewards for successful certifications are substantial. New classes offer unique stat growths and access to powerful class-specific abilities. These abilities can dramatically alter a unit's combat effectiveness. For example, the Mercenary class grants the Avoid +10 ability, significantly increasing survivability. Advanced classes often unlock potent combat arts, while Master classes can grant game-changing passive skills or access to powerful mounted or aerial units. Understanding the prerequisites and benefits of each class is key to optimizing your army's composition and ensuring your units are ready for the toughest battles.
Key Certification Seals:
- Beginner Seals: Used for initial certifications, allowing access to basic classes.
- Intermediate Seals: Required for classes like Mercenary, Fighter, and Cavalier.
- Advanced Seals: Necessary for specialized classes such as Swordmaster, Assassin, and Wyvern Rider.
- Master Seals: The highest tier, unlocking elite classes like Wyvern Lord, Great Knight, and Holy Knight.
Remember to check the specific requirements for each class in your unit's profile. Some units may have natural aptitudes that make them better suited for certain class lines. For example, a unit with a high Dexterity growth might excel in classes that benefit from accuracy and critical hits.
