Class changing in Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a fundamental mechanic for unit progression, and it hinges on obtaining the correct Sacred Seals and meeting specific stat requirements. There are various tiers of classes, from beginner classes like Lord and Fighter to intermediate classes such as Cavalier and Pegasus Knight, and finally to advanced and master classes like Great Knight and Wyvern Lord. To promote a unit, they must first pass a certification exam using the appropriate Sacred Seal. For example, a unit aiming to become a Cavalier needs a Beginner Seal to take the exam for intermediate classes. The exam itself requires the unit to have a certain level (typically level 10 for beginner to intermediate, and level 30 for intermediate to advanced) and possess a minimum proficiency in the weapon type associated with the target class. For instance, a unit aspiring to be a Cavalier will need a certain Sword or Lance skill level. Advanced and Master classes require higher levels and often specific intermediate classes as prerequisites. The Advanced Seal is used for the jump to advanced classes, and the Master Seal for the pinnacle of class progression. Some unique classes, like the Dark Knight or Grappler, also have specific skill requirements in addition to level and seal requirements.

2. Obtain Sacred Seal: Purchase Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, or Master Seals from the Item Shop or acquire them as rewards.
