Battalions & Gambits
In Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Battalions are powerful military units that can be assed to your characters, providing stat bonuses and unique abilities. Gambits are special attacks that these Battalions can unleash in combat, offering tactical advantages like area-of-effect damage, status effects, or defensive buffs. Mastering the use of Battalions and Gambits is crucial for overcoming challenging encounters and optimizing your army's performance on the battlefield.
Battalions are acquired through various means, including completing certain battles, purchasing them from merchants, or as rewards for specific activities. Each Battalion has a unique name, a set of stats (like Might, Hit, and Avoid), and often a special effect. The Might stat of a Battalion directly influences the damage dealt by its associated Gambit, while Hit and Avoid affect the accuracy and evasion of the Gambit's attack. Some Battalions also provide passive bonuses to the unit they are attached to, such as increased Charm or Luck.
Gambits are the active abilities that Battalions can use. They are typically unleashed during You phase and consume the Battalion's uses for that battle. The effects of Gambits vary widely. Some are offensive, dealing damage to multiple enemies or inflicting status conditions like poison or silence. Others are defensive, providing temporary shields, healing allies, or debuffing enemies. Strategic deployment of Gambits can turn the tide of battle, allowing you to break enemy formations, neutralize dangerous threats, or create openings for your main force.
When assing a Battalion to a character, consider the character's strengths and the type of Gambit that would best complement their role. For example, a high-offense character might benefit from a Battalion with a powerful offensive Gambit, while a support unit could utilize a Battalion that provides healing or defensive buffs. Experiment with different combinations to discover synergies that suit your playstyle and the challenges you face.
| Battalion Name | Might | Hit | Avoid | Gambit Effect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gryphon Riders | 12 | 80 | 10 | Deals damage to adjacent enemies. |
| Imperial Army | 15 | 75 | 5 | Inflicts 'Break' on enemies. |
| Holy Kingdom Knights | 10 | 85 | 15 | Heals adjacent allies. |
Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each Battalion and Gambit is key to effective strategy. Pay attention to enemy formations and their own Battalion assments to counter them effectively. Some Gambits are particularly useful for breaking enemy defenses or controlling large groups of enemies, making them invaluable tools in your arsenal.
