Lost Items
The Lost Items system in Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a charming and engaging side activity that allows you to deepen your bonds with students and faculty by returning misplaced belongings. These items are scattered throughout the monastery and can be found by exploring during free days. Successfully returning a lost item not only strengthens your support level with the recipient but also provides valuable insight into their personality and background.
Each student and some faculty members may lose an item at various points in the game. These items are often unique and reflect the character's interests or personality. For example, a student who enjoys reading might lose a book, while a more practical individual might misplace a tool or a piece of equipment. The game will provide a vague description of the item, and it's up to you to deduce who it belongs to.
To find lost items, you'll need to engage in exploration during your free days. As you wander through the monastery, you'll occasionally notice a shimmering exclamation mark (!) above certain objects or areas. Interacting with these will reveal a lost item. Once you've acquired an item, you can check your inventory to see a list of all the lost items you've collected and their descriptions. You can also view a list of characters who have lost items and the items they are missing.
The key to successfully returning lost items lies in matching the item's description to the character's known personality, hobbies, or even their dialogue. For instance, if you find a 'well-worn book,' it's highly likely to belong to someone who frequently discusses literature. If you find a 'small, intricately carved bird,' it might belong to a character known for their artistic talents or love of nature. Sometimes, the item's description will be quite direct, while other times it requires a bit of deduction.
How to Find and Return Lost Items:
- Explore during Free Days: Actively move around the monastery.
- Look for the '!' Icon: These indicate the presence of a lost item.
- Collect Items: Interact with the marked spots to pick up lost items.
- Check Your Inventory: Review the descriptions of collected items.
- Deduce the Owner: Match the item's description to a character's personality or known interests.
- Deliver the Item: Approach the correct character and select the option to give them their lost item.
Upon returning an item, you'll receive a small reward, often a stat-boosting item or a valuable crafting material. More importantly, your support level with that character will increase. This can lead to new dialogue options, unlock paired endings, and even improve their combat effectiveness when fighting alongside you. Prioritizing lost items can be an efficient way to boost relationships, especially early in the game when support points are harder to come by.
